Does anyone care about the rumors of booth not being "passionate" about hockey? He's on a 1yr deal at just over a mil. If he contributes at least a mil then who cares. If he was a young guy that was a potential draft pick itd be different, as you'd be investing more than 1mil into him and looking at him as the future.

I'm not passionate about selling auditing software, but I am still pretty good at it. So no, I don't care.

I've heard that clarksons problem last year was that he was trying too hard to do too much. Trying to earn the new contract. Maybe if he worried about just playing hockey, playing his game/style and not worry so much about being a Zamboni too.

a guy like that just has to accept the fact that he's unlikely to live up to a $37 million investment, and he has to be OK with his career average of 15ish goals, 30ish points, some physical play, etc. then and only then will you see him at his most effective.

Hey now, there is only one true player Zamboni, and thankfully he does not wear a Leafs jersey anymore.

His problem was he came from a slow, structured trap team to one of the faster teams in the NHL, and he was caught inbetween trying to play how he did in NJ, and adjusting to a quicker team.

oh right I did read that

I can understand criticizing the move if the leafs signed him for 3 years 9 mil or something.

If you think he takes a Marlies Job..well shouldnt that marlie be able to earn the spot anyways? Most think Booth sucks so shouldnt be hard then

- senstroll

Agreed.

@Hope_Smoke: Booth responded that he thinks he's more passionate than other players in the league. Because he has a hobby doesn't mean he dislikes hockey

Like I said before if this came up with draft pick, maybe different story... Or like you said a long term contract, but I don't see an issue. If he sucks, or isn't interested or a marlie beats him out then he goes away and costs nothing. If he lives up to the. 1mil then that's great. No lose here.

This and the fact he was awarded a massive contract.

Yup. We get remotely close to that this year that's a huge win for us.

i don't think it was all that surprising what happened last year, and it won't be any more surprising if he bounces back with a real solid year.

Maybe... Maybe some of thAt is true, but at the end of the day he was sold here as a guy that can cycle well, control the boards, gritty physical player who drove the net. None of that we saw at all last year, and I do not think the the differences in style of team had any effect on those things.

He was carrying the puck too much, trying to be too cute with the puck. He didn't play his game. Never once saw him go to the net (it was like he was allergic to the blue paint - fall down at the blue line, steer clear of the crease).
