i never said it was. I watch alot of the prospects and the hockey news panel just has access to more info / live viewings of prospects than us.
it's not gospel but it's not a joke either. - clark_griswold
It's somewhere in between - let's call it the Jospel of prospect rankings. |

we as fans really cannot say because we know nothing about other teams' prospect systems. to be honest, we don't know much about our own prospect systems. - DoubleDown
I go to about 1 or 2 Marlies games a year.
Two scenarios:
- go with buddies and get plastered, so I don't remember the game
- take my kids, where I don't really get to watch the game, because I'm taking them to the washroom / buying hotdogs / whatever else they make me do.
Either way, I'm not writing down scouting notes in a binder.
Until they make it to the big club, I have no idea who they are.
And I haven't been to a junior game in over a decade. |

As per my post above:
Jason Allison - 60 points in 66 games.
But he was really slow on one penalty shot.
RUN HIM OUT OF TOWN!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah agreed. No one gives Burke credit. He had NOTHING and put this team in the right direction. - JVR_42_PK81
You need to measure that - not against what they looked like pre-Burke - but against what the Leafs would look like if they had one of those "water-drinking birds" (like from the Simpson's) running the team.
I liked Burkie ....but in hindsight, the bird might have won. |

antropov ended up being the best of the 3.
stajan is poop and will never be 'good'.
poni must have played another season or 2 and gonzo
toskala should have been shot. - big_dion
I hated Antropov from the day the Leafs drafted him. I publicly declared that he would never amount to anything.
So even when he had a decent career, I would never admit it to anyone. In my mind he sucked, he continues to suck, he will always suck.
And the funniest thing about it all? I hated him because I wanted the Leafs to draft Mark Bell. And I don't even follow junior hockey, so I can't even remember why I had that in my head. Maybe I liked him at the WJC? |

Being a Toronto fan is awesome.
Our best players suck. Kessel is useless. Phaneuf couldn't play on the 3rd pairing on a lot of teams.
But Komarov was the reason we missed the playoffs last year. - Atomic Wedgie

marlies are great for compete and i'd much rather see a leivo in instead of booth. But the high end forward prospects aren't there. As for the marlies being consistent AHL contenders, that has zero barometer for future NHL success. Sometimes the AHL squads are built of ahl vets or free agent signings. Here are a few recent winners (i went back a while to give them time to reach the show), how many nhl impact players are there?
2009-10 - Hershey Bears - Karl Alzner, Greg Amadio, Keith Aucoin, Jay Beagle, Francois Bouchard, Chris Bourque, John Carlson, Sean Collins, Stefan Della Rovere, Cody Eakin, Simon Ferguson, Alexandre Giroux, Andrew Gordon, Bryan Helmer, Andrew Joudrey, Boyd Kane, Johann Kroll, Grant Lewis, Grant McNeill, Patrick McNeill, Zach Miskovic, Mathieu Perreault, Steve Pinizzotto, Ashton Rome, Patrick Wellar, Kyle Wilson, Dylan Yeo, Jason Bacashihua (G), Braden Holtby (G), Michal Neuvirth (G)
2008-09 - Hershey Bears - Karl Alzner, Greg Amadio, Dean Arsene, Keith Aucoin, Jay Beagle, Francois Bouchard, Chris Bourque, Kip Brennan, John Carlson, Sean Collins, Alexandre Giroux, Andrew Gordon, Bryan Helmer, Andrew Joudrey, Staffan Kronwall, Quintin Laing, Sami Lepisto, Grant McNeill, Patrick McNeill, Graham Mink, Oskar Osala, Mathieu Perreault, Steve Pinizzotto, Darren Reid, Tyler Sloan, Kyle Wilson, Daren Machesney (G), Michal Neuvirth (G)
2007-08 - Chicago Wolves - Matt Anderson, Joey Crabb, Guillaume Desbiens, Andre Deveaux, Kevin Doell, Brian Fahey, Mike Hamilton, Darren Haydar, Jason Krog, Arturs Kulda, Joel Kwiatkowski, Jordan LaVallee, Grant Lewis, Bryan Little, Steve Martins, Joe Motzko, Nathan Oystrick, Karel Pilar, Jesse Schultz, Brian Sipotz, Brett Sterling, Colin Stuart, Boris Valabik, Robert Gherson (G), Ondrej Pavelec (G) |

But random 'writers' opnions are? you are a very insightful man.
All you have to do is look at the players who contributed the most during those AHL playoff stretches to figure out who could be NHL worthy.
The reason they Marlies did well was because of the kids. Not the journeymen (bar MacIntyre) |

I've always said that the problem I had with it was that he needed to get that top centre to compliment him. I think his plan was always to get that Getz-Perr combo and his big horse on D and run with it like he had with the Ducks. He just couldn't find his Getzlaf.

A lot of ppl say that but we could of easily drafted Gudbranson with Burke in charge and for the 9th overall pick we could of easily drafted a bust. I believe Boston got the best possible value with the picks they got with Seguin and Hamilton. There is no way the leafs would of drafted better than that. |
