Kane for Bailey, the 5th pick and change would've made a lot more sense for both teams a month ago, when it would've given the Jets a chance to trade up to 1st overall and it was before the Isles signed both Grabovski and Kulemin.

That trade really doesn't make any sense for the Jets because Bailey is only a step above garbage and "change" probably isn't what Chevy is looking for if he gets rid of Kane. The 5th was the only mildly valuable thing in that deal.

This year was a perfect example that the cap is not going to keep rising like it was. I would expect very minimal increases in the future, probably something that slightly outpaces inflation.

It's gone up by $9 million the past two seasons. That's a 15% increase in just two years.

So someone worth $4 two years ago is worth $4.6 now. That's very high inflation rates, but one should remember that it was supposed to be even higher this season.

Berglund isn't a bad piece.

Hakanpaa is a mediocre D prospect though, and adding the 2nd doesn't do much for it. Especially when you consider the Jets have good depth in D prospects already.

Thats the thing, no one really knows what ROR wants. ONly time money has been mentioned was his agent saying he wants to start talks at 6.5m. Then when they were slated for abritration he was looking to get a 1 year 6.75m deal.

Havent read once that he was looking for an 8 year deal. If he was at 6.5m thats a fair contract over long term. I trust Dater when covering the Avs and he didnt mention once about such a deal being presented.

No, but we know the Flyers are in on everybody, even if they are $3 million over the Cap right now. They won't lowball either! Its about being paid, length of contract doesn't matter to him. He doesn't want to take a discount on a long term contract. He wants to be paid in full for what he brings now and in the future.

I think Kane goes to Boston for Marchand, Boychuk
and a 2nd round pick.
