Interesting. They don't have one yet so we will probably see more of the same with Babcock...overusing the wrong players. I'm thinking Babcock is gone after this season anyways and he likely would be replaced by Blashill. I wouldn't mind that actually given that Blashill knows the young players better and likely wouldn't be afraid to give them bigger roles with the Wings...plus he has no loyalty to vet players like Cleary and some others. He probably would push Holland more to have some of the kids be up and stay up.

I'll be really bummed if Babcock leaves after seasons end.

I won't unless Blashill went right back to some of the things Babcock kept doing that don't work. Abdelkader on the top line, no PP time for Smith, Quincey and Smith pairing, using Lashoff/Glendening as more than injury replacements, putting any right handed forward on the point of the PP, playing Cleary or pushing to sign him, tie goes to the vet, not using young players in bigger roles unless forced to by injuries ect... Coaches do have a shelf life with a team and after a while they become stale and both need a change.

I get that after a while change might be necessary, but Abdelkader worked on the line with Pav. Even they made jokes about how ones gotta pull the piano for the other to play it. To me Smith still was a pretty big liability on ice so he didn't deserve A lot of pp time, and I don't see what's with all the hate on Glendening. No he isn't an offensive second liner but he was pretty solid for the time he got.

I'm not trying to argue everything I just think majority of the problems the Wings have are on holland not Babcock.

The piano thing is a Babcock thing...Abdlekader isn't pulling the piano he is the piano that Datsyuk and Zetterberg are wrecking their knees/back pulling around the ice. He can't even crack 30 points getting 1st line minutes with 2 top offensive forwards. Sorry but that is not working for me...hell even Doan made fun of him for it during a game telling him he should be ashamed of his point totals playing with players like that.

Smith was great playing with Kronwall and is the 2nd best offensive defenseman on the Wings right now behind Kronwall. He was drafted as an offensive defenseman yet he gets 0 PP time. You say he is a liability (which he can be sometimes) so why in the hell is he out killing penalties every game? Wouldn't he be less of a liability on the PP rather than the PK? It's just plain stupid to use him that way. Also from what Yost said, he is one of the top 5 in the league in some advanced stat category.

Glendening was not solid for the time he got. He is sub par on faceoffs, just ok defensively and brings zero offense. Just ask Sven about him

Problems are with both Holland and Babcock if you ask me. Holland keeps signing washed up players or overpaying and Babcock doesn't use players properly a lot of the time. Both don't seem on the same page as far as roster decisions. Holland overpays for Tootoo and Babcock barely uses him. Holland overpays to get Legwand and he ends up a 4th line winger by the end of the season. Holland brings in Commodore and Babcock never liked him and didn't want to play him. Some players that should never have been signed or be on the team end up playing big roles because Babcock likes them even if they bring little to nothing on the ice. Cleary last season was getting more ice time than Tatar FFS.

Serious question: What if we can't come to terms with Tatar and DeKeyser, can we package their rights for something?
