Gordie Clark? The guy who picked Jessiman mcilrath(who i still have hope for.) del Zotto and so on... Everyone has their screw ups.
- mjh609

I don't think DZ was a screw up. First year 37 points 3rd year 41 points +20. The kid has the talent, he just lost his confidence. I would be in favor of trading J.Moore and signing DZ to a 1 million dollar 1 year contract. I think getting traded and Nashville not qualifying him was a wake up call. Within the next 3 years if given the chance DZ will have another 40+ point season. HE JUST TURNED 24. Before 23 he had 2 35+ point seasons as a defenseman and was on pace for 38 points in the lockout season so I consider that 3 seasons of 35+ point seasons at under 23. It would be nice having a 3rd pair dman that could add 25-30 points and playing with Klein will give him the ability to take chances.

But who hires the "minions"? Who takes what the "minions" say and goes out and actually works out a blockbuster trade based on their word? Who fired Tortorella after we made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs the year after an ECF run and hired AV? Who made the call to trade the team captain for a 38 year old in the middle of a playoff run? Who was able to avoid overpaying for Brian Boyle and Benoit Pouliot and bring in speedy forwards on cheap deals that fit the system better?

What if Gorton has been handling all contracts and salary cap issues for the past 4 years? Do you still share the same sentiments? Or is it mainly just anti-Sather hate?

No GM in this league has hired more coaches than Sather, any owner in their right mind would never have given a GM that much time and that many failures behind the bench

You're complaining about Sather a month removed from a SCF run, a year removed from a 2nd round berth, and 2 years removed from an ECF run. This is the most successful stretch the franchise has seen since the early to mid 90's and you're complaining man. He has his faults, but I love this team right now. I love the roster, I love the veterans, I love the youth, I love the identity, I love the style. Top 3 goalie in the world, top 5 defense in the league, a couple elite gamechanging veterans on offense mixed in with a bunch of fast, skilled, and defensively responsible NHL players. We have it pretty good right now. Imagine being a Panthers fan or an Islanders fan.

Way to pick out 3 failures and I don't think he was here for Jessiman anyway, let's forget all the late round steals and success after the 1st round

Did I say this team is gonna fail, why would this effect their potential this season, I have a problem with how he treats homegrown players, this is why players like Callahan got greedy, how many times can you see Sather roll out the red carpet and throw unwarranted money at guys like Redden, Drury, Gomez and Richards then not expect to get paid yourself when you've already poured your heart and soul out on the ice? I'm not against the Callahan trade because it was above and beyond what he's actually worth but I don't blame Cally for one second

Rangers are a joke. One cup since 1940. They buy big named players and treat there home grown players like crap. They always spend to the cap and still have one cup in 73 years that's a joke

But that's what you're doing. You're picking and choosing Sather's failures and Clark's accomplishments.

If he gets the rfa's locked up on top of bringing in a pp qb, a couple proven solid players for the 3rd and 4th line and makes everything fit under a salary cap the was lower than expected. All while not feeling pressured to overpay Boyle and stralman, I consider this offseason a big success.

Right because the flyers marching in former player after former player to fail miserably in the GM role is the real recipe for success.

Also, your poop franchise has had the same problem for the last 30 years and haven't been able to fix it. You haven't had a decent goalie since parent. Great job.

Philadelphia as a whole has a long history of turning on and disprespecting their most impact full players. Lindros, rolen, iverson, mcnabb. The list is a mile long.

I really hope im wrong but i think you will see a similar situation with Stepan. He is going to go for the jugular when he gets his chance after the way his last contract negotiations went and I wouldnt blame him at all for doing so.

I love the bashing of Glen Sather here.

"What? He just built a team that was in the Stanley Cup finals a month ago? (frank) that guy."
