It's important to remember, when talking about Ryan O'Reilly, that one needs to look at not the specific monetary value attached to his contract, but what percentage of the team's cap space he will eat.

Definitely Too bad. Would have loved to see Booth in Philly if they had the room. Guess they could have shoved Rosehill in the minors to make room.

Question is where does Booth fit? Leafs already have a pretty crammed roster.
If I were a betting man I'd bet lines would be:

JVR-Bozak-Kessel
Booth-Kadri-Lupul
Kamorov-Santorelli-Clarkson
Kontiola-Holland-Frattin

You could flip Holland and Santorelli as well

In all honesty, this could be good for Toronto. Aren't deer, coyotes, rabbits, and non-christians a problem in the GTA? Booth is the remedy.

Right? When you compare his contract to what others got at the same point in their careers, you have to pay attention to what the financial sitaution of the league was and where the salary cap sat at the time those players signed. it's very relevant.

the over-hyping of Kevin Hayes is ridiculous....i understand there is not much news to report right now but this is a later first rounder that didnt flourish until Johnny Gaudreau was on his line this year...he was a 0.56 PPG player before Gaudreau and last time I checked that wasnt exactly worthy of a starting spot in the NHL out of college....

It's pretty damn true. People go nuts every year after free agency when they see what some guys get, but it's just the NHL's version of inflation. Cap goes up, freeing space to spend a little more to get guys signed which in turn increases competition and prices get driven higher. A bottom 3 defenseman that was making ~$3M 3-4 years ago is ~$4M player now.

We need him to complete the line from college... we're hoping we can attract some New England fans..

if the over/under on how many points he's going to score this year is 30, Vanek would put 20K on the under

For real.

Huh. I wonder what kind of numbers Skinner would have put up last year if he played at Boston College...
