So I was reading the Avs blog and their blogger's idea of O'Reilly's value was not what I was expecting.

With his surprising play that would have seen him a top 10 pick in his draft year, his price would be pretty high. If not a high end prospect, a high-end draft pick and more than likely an NHL ready player. Whatever point they are at in the season would be a factor on the NHL ready player. If the defense has a terrible season then it will probably head the D way and vis versa for scoring depth at the 3/4 lines.

Could a trade for O'Reilly not be a pipe dream? The two guys that we keep trying to throw into trade propositions on this board are Martin and Sutter, and it seems like either or fits right in with what Colorado is looking for in their NHL ready player. Our draft pick next year wouldn't be that high, so we'd likely have to throw in one of our D boys, but could we get away with it not being Pouliot or Dumoulin?

Would something like our 1st, Samuelsson/Despres, and Martin/Sutter work? If its Despres would our side of the bargain be so heavy that it could merit a throw in on Colorado's side, like say, a man by the name of Maxime?

EDIT: Oh well, never mind. That was a massive waist of time.

So, is this dream dead?

Ryan O'Rielly agrees to 2 yr deal. $ 5.8 and $6.2.

And now Ryan O'Rielly has his dream of getting a nice raise, and in two years going to the absolute highest bidder on the open market.

Dammit. Another top 6 player that we were supposed to acquire for pennies on the dollar.
- Ben37

I dont think we ever said anything about pennies on the dollar. Yesterday I said Martin and Sutter and it was a reach. But that was still a fairly appropriate swap of RFA's I thought...considering ROR seemed to want out of COL. Now that hes signed, I would think it would be quite farfetched.

btw, no matter what you say, I can never be mad at someone with that avatar.

Didn't know it was a dream. He is a good player, but overpaid. He would be a 3rd line center on the Penguins.
- cap1681

He would have been top 6 wing. I don't see new mgmt being as stubborn about the 3 center model.

Yes, that turned out to be a waste of time. But just to entertain your idea...I would have said that it seems reasonable. That's a significant payment. Especially since that first, even though it would be a late pick, in a deep draft is like gold.

It's strange... going back to the "Legion of Doom" days (heck, even older guys like Tim Kerr), I've always liked most of the Flyers individually. Same holds true today, but those stupid orange jerseys with that stupid logo (even flyers fans have to admit that it's a dumb logo), and from that stupid city, and that stupid owner, and that stup... ok, nevermind, I'll stop there... You get my point, I hate the Flyers team, but like the Flyers players, I guess... oh, and cheesesteaks...

We need a new blog... we've been bumped down too many rows.

So where is that "Crosby's favorite cereal" blog Ryan? Pretty sure I heard that was coming up back when we got all the Crosby hate for two blogs on his injury not too long ago.

Actually, that was not my intent, this blog has slowed down, so wanted a new one to liven it up and help avoid doing stuff at work.

But hey, i'll go prepare a gif now ^_^

Just bored... want to see what the makeup of the team will be... sutter and spaling could always be traded... plus if they give them anything over my numbers and use kapanen with sid then they are over the cap... that's with maatta and Bennett being healthy...

I really want them to just buyout adams and trade scuds to nyi for a 7th

Last resort martin to Minny for a 2nd and prospect...

The amount of flexibility the roster gets if Skuds is dumped and another rookie takes his spot... just 2.5 mil in cap space about.

Wow, weird I just mentioned that. I guess J. Martin won't be an assistant coach after all

So I'm really bored and I was sitting here thinking they call Sutter flat Stanley I believe because he is so thin so if we signed penner we could call him fat stanley. Then we would have flat stanley and fat stanley. That alone is worth a mil
