totally agree with you but wouldn't a team needing relief try to snag some good prospects from a team rather than another player with same salary. - Nolanders
Most likely, or they would want us to retain some salary..which I don't think Snow & Co. are going to do.
Even if, and they wouldn't, Boston wanted to do Grabner for Boychuk straight-up it would only save them about 300k. |

I know this is reaching but I'm just a frustrated Islander fan with a dream of making the playoffs.
An chance we can get Brent Burns out of SJ?
Maybe Grabner, CARKNER, and STRAIT? - BetMustGo
stop it...
not only is the offer ridiculous, im not sure why the isles would trade an asset for a forward; while taking away 2 defensemen... |

Technically Burns can play both.

It doesn't necessary mean that another team would give back equal salary. Most likely prospects or already NHL players w/low salaried contracts.
So in a way, we are in agreement |

I dont hate strait. I wouldnt mind him as a number 5 or 6. Carkner to me is a blatant waste of a roster spot. Some say he adds some bite to our blue line. Im still waiting to see that. He has taken amacs spot as my least favorite islander. - Cptmjl
i like this game....1 player who you dislike the most on the current roster...and just take make it a little more difficult, bailey cant be included...
i say boulton; not because i dont like him but more bc i dont think hes needed. |

That's what my complaint was when isles sign him to an extension so early bc players like Boulton can be had anytime......
Edit: Plus I remember everyone getting on me bc of his signing when the player is irrelevant...... |

Boulton doesn't play enough games or minutes for me to hate him. I would have to go with Carkner or Bailey personally, now that MacDonald is gone. |

i dont think most disagree...i think most just dont think its a big deal; he wont take up a roster spot, theyll send him to bridgeport if necessary. not the end of the world. |

i said bailey isnt in play!!! thats a gimme..
to me it was a toss up between boulton and Mcdonald...but colin is at a major disadvantage; guilty by last-name association. |

Oh I didn't catch the Bailey thing. Well then Carkner or McDonald. Probably McDonald but I don't know. |

Whats the difference if he signed early or late? Not everybody can be a 13th forward and actually play good in that role. Boulton was great in that role last year. Guys like Conacher Bailey Mcdonald can't play once every 15 games or so and be effective. I disagree that Boulton is not needed. They team seemed to play with a chip on their shoulders when they dressed a tough team. Then again I love having a goon on the roster regardless - Vukota
The point of Boulton signing early was bc it took up a roster spot when there was enough time to assess a team. Grant it, goons can be had anytime an now theres talk if the season started 2day, the isles would waive Boulton and risk losing him bc of having a similar player in Gallant... That was my gripe, he's the type of player you can sign anytime...
Again its not Boulton, its the timing of his extension & the type of player he is. |

sounds like a little bit of micromanaging and nit-picking if you ask me.
either that or i dont get what the issue is? that he signed early for $650k? what problem is there? this all goes back to being unable to please everyone; people complain that garth never signs anyone, now he is signing guys too fast? come on...let it go. |

Its let go for some time now, at that time it was meaningless for an extension. Also at that time it also showed scrap barreling signing from Snow to start off, before getting smart and giving Grabo & Kumi contracts. If it wasn't for those 2 signings, I do believe it would be more scrap barreling signings... Not including the Halak trade & signing bc G was a need regardless and this year produced a ton of G available. |

Carkner. Not even a question. The guy is terrible and shouldn't be on an NHL roster. Guy is terrible with his puck in his own end and can't skate. He's the worst player on this team. |

Extending one his players was a scrap barreling signing? Boulton was great in his role last and you could even make a case given his limited ice time last year he was more effective then any of the regular 4th liners when given a chance to play. As far as if the season started today they would waive him in favor of Gallant goes I read that article and I'm pretty sure it was just one of many options thrown out there by the author and not something that was in motion ( I could be wrong because I don't remember word for word of that article) Also while Gallant was a great story and the kid is a beast his skating was atrocious and it looked like it was a chore just to hit somebody with a check. Boulton is a much better all around player then Gallant. Say what you want about Boulton but there is a reason he is has been in the league for 10 plus years. He plays a small role and he plays it well. Plus he is so cheap that if they truly did need the spot they could waive him and send him down without a problem. Again isn't that what you're looking for when you have a 13th,14th forward? |

I agree. How anyone can have a problem with an enforcer who does his job well can actually skate a little who comes cheap and has no problem playing in 15-20 games a year? He is the definition of a 13th/14th forward. |
