They're both power forwards are they not? - kindlyrick
Kane is more of a power forward in the true sense of the term. Okposo is more of a stretch to me. Great player in his own right dont get me wrong.

Okposo 3-4 years ago maybe. But he's become a true power forward. We're splitting hairs here. For the record I like Kane, it's just not the priority.
Ask yourself this. Does adding another 20 goal scorer push this team into the playoffs? |

No it doesnt. Again, I dont disagree with you. How many more times do I have to say this?
Also. Okposo is a power forward but hes not a player that mixes it up. Throws the big hit. Drops the gloves. I like that from players. Its just an opinion thing. |

I'm totally with you. Old school hockey.
But since that fight in the playoffs I see a totally different okposo. Does he throw Evander Kane hits? Maybe not. But I've seen him lose his sh!t when Tavares gets phucked with. That's enough for me... |

Absolutely. Like I said im completely happy with the player Okposo is. No complaints. Its just that kane and okposo though both being power forwards play a different game. |

As I said a few times before. Since when did Evander Kane become Jarome Iginla? - kindlyrick
And where exactly did I say he was? And by the way this is not anything like the Vanek trade. Kane is signed for 3 more years. |

It's not about term, it's about trading for something that's not a priority. |

1st off, NO TEAM, NONE are willing to trade off there top 3 defenseman on team, maybe not even there 4th defensemen unless someone is pushing for his spot or player becoming UFA or asking to much money, etc. Plus to even pry away a top 4 Dman would cost teams the moon bc they are in demand. So if a team can improve a position of strength w/a young possible superstar w/out giving up anything major, U PULL THE TRIGGER.
Dal Colle - is only 18yrs old and is a prospect
Bailey - hasn't done anything here and needs a change of scenery
3rd piece - If its anything minor, how does this affect the team?
Plus these 3 possible trade assets would prob not land u a top 3 Dman...
So you have to stop going in circles w/this discussion bc all/most of isles fans know that the team needs D, but newsflash: ITS THE HARDEST THING TO ACQUIRE
get it? got it? GOOD..... |

I'm not playing the homer card. You've seen enough of my posts on here to know I'm not the type. I wouldn't say Kane is a better player right now but I would say they are both great in their own right but different. |

The best part is all of this argument is stemming from EKLUND claiming that Kane could possibly be had for Bailey, Dal Colle and a 3rd piece.

I think Kane is a lot tougher than Okie and has a higher ceiling. It's a tough call who's better because Kane had a down year last year and Okposo had a career year. |

Yeah. Pretty much what I stated. The thing with Okposo is he showed improvement from january of the season before last through last year so we may have not seen his ceiling yet? Kind of a silly debate really since like both you and i stated they are different players. |

See. I agree with what you posted here for the most part but I do think there are top 4 d men who are "available" or who will become "available". There are quite a few teams up against or over the cap. Those teams who have some defensive depth and lack prospects or depth up front would be willing to part ways with a top 4. Especially if they have a decent size salary. With that said I'd still do that Kane trade without even thinking twice if it were actually available but it'd be done with the firm understanding that I'm also acquiring a legit top 4. There'd have to be that kind of plan in place for it to make sense to me. - Cptmjl
I did mention along the lines of possibly be available bc of either making to much money, someone pushing for there spot and etc - which could mean cap issues. I didn't think that there not obtainable but other teams are looking for the moon for good top 4 dmen. |

I get KO having a career year but its his 1st consistent year in how many? Plus I've said if he can put together another consistent year, then I'll think different about him, but until then, his 1yr wonder holds no merit for me... Sorry just my opinion.

If it's a forced situation(cap reasons, contract, just not happy with said club, desperation for some scoring, etc) the value of said player will not be as high as some may think whether defenseman are at a premium or not. |
