I started playing fantasy football about 15 years ago. No real internet. The stats were taken out of the newspaper and the scoring was done by hand.

key word "probably" kane at worst is 30 goals 60 points and a whole lot of sandpaper
- Dan Petriw

How can you say at worst he's a 30 goal scorer? 30 goals in the NHL is an exclusive club. I love Kane's game, but at worst a 30 goal scorer? That insinuates he's gonna score more than 30. I don't agree with that statement.

There is no way Garth Snow trades multiple assets. So, my point is, if he's gonna part with one (Reinhardt, del Colle, strome etc) you do it for the PP dman this team so desperately needs. I like Evander Kane, I think he's a great all around hockey player. But I don't think you trade blue chip prospects for a guy who's scored 30 once in his career thus far. Granted he's not played with elite talent but I believe Brock Nelson is a similar type of player.

The isles have sooooo many forwards, how is this even a discussion? I don't think Kane is worth what the jets would be asking......he's good but he's not Iginla in his prime.

- kindlyrick

Its not a discussion. My post pretty much said that.

Kane is only 23yrs old putting up decent to good numbers on a lousy Winnipeg team that doesn't have a C to the likes of a Tavares. I think that if Kane had better C's to play with he would of been a consistent 25-30g.
Like some have mentioned, if this type of trade is not asking for the moon or having to give up major assets, you pull the trigger.
Plus Kane is nowhere near his prime right now, so you cant really compare him to Iginla.

Edit: If Moulson was able to put up 30-40g next to JT, just think what Kane might be able to do when he's 1000x better than Moulson?

evander kane has the talent to be a 40 goal scorer..at worst he puts in 30 with JT and KO... and he is tall and weighs more than 200 pounds..i figured that would be the clincher

I can't even believe this is a discussion. The isles have 5378 forwards signed to one way deals......and about 6 out of 8 unproven dmen, yet fans on here are offering top prospects for a forward?

Tell me, isn't everyone on here in agreement that the Vanek trade last year didnt address the need the isles had?

I'm sorry, but with all due respect, how on earth are you pegging a guy as a 40 goal scorer when he's scored 30 I think only once.

Brock Nelson is "tall and weighs more than 200" and had similar numbers last year. I suppose Frans Nielson should continue to be on point on the PP which was below average last year?

Again, your car needs a new engine and you're talkin about a new paint job...

Not for nothing, but has Tavares ever had a 40 goal season? Scoring 40 goals now is like scoring 50 goals 15 years ago. That's an elite club.

I like Evander Kane and he's been in the league a few years now, but he's not Jerome Iginla

He said in his post if they arent asking for the "moon". Nobody is saying giving up top prospects and EVERYONE is saying getting a defenseman in addition to kane if it were even an option. This is all hypothetical bs. Nobody on here actually thinks this is going to really happen and every single one if us knows we need defensemen more than anything else.

Fair enough, but it's really tough to tell with "kids". I thought NiƱo was gonna be a bust, but the more he gets older and stronger its becoming pretty clear that Minnesota stole that trade.

Ho sang.....tons of talent, hopefully he matures and puts it all together.

- kindlyrick

I never thought nino was bust. He was just young and immature. I knew we lost on that trade as soon as it happend.

Still think of moulson was traded for dman the season before it would have been nino on top line now.

And if that trade for a D man just isn't there should a deal like that be passed up?

Agreed. I dont know why anyone would think nino was a bust with the minutes he played and who he played with? Impossible to get a good barometer on what kind of player he was going to be.

I think that's the point most on here are trying to make. If you have an opportunity to upgrade your first line with a good young player you do it. Saying nelson is going to be our new first line winger and there's no need to me makes no sense. The only problem that would create is more depth which as we all know is not a problem. Thats what wins cups. Depth. The age of one line teams passed a long tine ago. We all know we need a top four more than anything. Its not some mystery. Snow needs to add one before the season starts plain and simple but if you have that opportunity you take it IMO.

They were saying del Colle etc for Kane. Next i believe it was said to compose another package of prospects/players for a dmen. My point simply was that there's no way snow starts packaging up prospects (plural) and if he does send off ONE it shouldn't be for Kane, it should be to address the D

I wasn't going off his ice time or linemates. I thought his skating was poor and his first step wasn't NHL material. Then again he was only 18

This is exactly what Snow said about the Vanek trade. The scoring will not be an issue this year.

I'd also be willing to make anyone a bet that Brock Nelson has more points than Evander Kane this year.

Lastly, depth is one thing, but the isles already have a log jam of forwards. I don't think you trade for a player whom you already have (okposo) without addressing the priority. I highly doubt there's not a top 4 to be had with a salary capped sport.

Exactly. He was eighteen and not ready for the nhl. He was rushed to reach the floor and was put on line with two players that were two years removed from their "good years". To me it was a crime how that kid was handled but at no time would I have put the bust stamp on him.

Okposo and kane are two different players. You make it sound like they play a similar style. They dont. Kane plays a much more grittier game. Okposo does not. Im not being critical of okposo im happy what kind of player he has become but people have been saying hes something he isnt since we drafted him. As far as everything else you stated I agree and im pretty sure every person this thread does as well. Theres not a debate here.

They're both power forwards are they not?
