how old is the kid the Leafs hired as assistant GM....he looks 14

I know not Isles related but just made me laugh...

- Nolanders

He does look like a little kid. He is 28 years old. I heard his interview on NHL radio last night and he was VERY impressive. They were calling him a "Leo Epstien" of the NHL type... was very young when Soo hired him and he did great..etc. They asked him a few questions about players on Soo and other teams and he was smart enough to worry about "tampering" discussions if he spoke too much about either teams till both transitions were complete..etc.

I will say this.. He is a boatload smarter than Me... and most NHL guys I have heard on the Radio and TV.

Fair...not good. Being good on the Isles club when he first arrived was like being the smartest kid on the short bus. We had been watching guys like Gervais log major minutes at that point, so Amac looked 'promising' after his first year. It was the Isles club who decided to then set the bar high and begin screaming from rooftops that the kid was going to be a great dman etc, wearing chains, etc...
On a decent defensive corps, he struggles to break the lineup.

- keaner17

That's the common reply...but he was good early on. With Game Center/Center Ice, most of us watch enough hockey and enough teams where it's not just a matter of comparing AMac to Gervais because that's all we see.

Not sure, but did you mean Theo Epstein? They were likely referring to the fact that once Epstein adopted the use of advanced metrics into the Red Sox organization they won 3 World Series in 10 years.

Anyway, love them or hate them you're going to start seeing a lot of NHL teams beginning to rely more on the advanced statistics and that's exactly what Dubas brings to the table. They booted out the "old boys club", essentially, of Loiselle and Poulin in the Leafs front office and they're likely going to revamp the entire organization's culture.

Ah I didn't listen. Well either way, I assume the person that was being referred to by all was Theo Epstein, due to his young age and adoption of fancystats as a useful tool.

im scared to think what we would give up to get Evander Kane.
I have feeling isles fans will not be happy.

Kane is exceptional player but seems like his attitude isn't something I want to deal with come when his new contract.

he is the Franchise player in Winnipeg and he wants to Leave.

He's signed for a while, so currently it would not be an issue....

Was just going back and fourth with Ek on the main blog and he said he heard Bailey, Del Colle and something else for Kane. I told him if the something else was small I would make that deal now!

Can't see any situation where this is a reality. Why would the isles trade strength for more strength? Yes, Kane would be nice to have on the top line but NOT for what the jets want. The isles know they need a veteran top line D man, no reason to give away your trade assets to trade for a potential locker room conflict..
My opinion, Kane would be a great fit in a place like Boston, Detroit or Pittsburgh where they have the veterans that won't let Kane say anything. The isles are still too young and a passive aggressive coach that doesn't know how to deal with problems that may arise with a player like him.

Wow, if that's all it will take from the Isles, I don't care what the something else is, I make that deal or try to expand it and get a Dman from Jets....

If that's the deal that something else would not be small. If it were for some odd reason snow does it without hesitation. Kane and tavares would be pretty formidable.

Of course who knows what the last piece would be. Also gotta remember Kane isn't this superstar that scores 40 goals a year. He is young and could turn into a force but with his salary and reputation the return might not be as much as some might think. I doubt the isles are that heavily interested in him because of their hole on the back end but if they could get Kane without giving up Strome, Nelson, Lee, Pulock or Reinhart that would be huge

He would look awesome on JT's wing. I just don't see it happening. What about this?

Grabner, Bailey, Del Colle, Pokka & Mayfield

for

Kane ,Bogosian & 2nd, 3rd picks?

Take one of pokka or mayfield out and yes. Probably still do it with the both of them part of it. Love ya grabs and bailey but peace out my brothers! Trading bailey would eliminate one thing that people on here can make fun of me with. I know there's plenty of ammunition left though. One step at a time.

I figured by even throwing them an extra D prospect they would still have Reinhart, Pulock, Pedan, Pelech coming up in the coming years to go along with Dehaan,Hamonic & Bogosian Wishful thinking I know
