Fair enough but those 10 min a night would have been against the opposing teams bottom 6 forwards. Big difference than playing against those teams top 6. - kindlyrick
I get your point. I understand it down to him playing against the opposing 3rd and 4th lines. I still don't agree with it though |

I'd give you that, but I still don't think my heart could handle him in an isles jersey again |

Fair enough but for me personally, I'd take AMAC over Hickey and Strait anyday. |

I'd take hickey or strait as the 6th defenseman ahead of amac, but at that point we're splitting hairs because none of the above are going to help us to a playoff spot playing significant minutes. bit roles, maybe.

I'm not jumping on you here, but I have to say the last year of Amac was the worst yet. No attempt to play the man, only to stand near him and wave at the puck with one hand on the stick. An incredible number of bone headed turnovers. An incredible number of shots blocked on the PP (lol - no cappy. no) where he'd have his head down and fire it right into the forechecker's shins. Didn't take the man or the stick in front of the net. All he'd do on any given shift would be to fall to the ice when he thought the shot was coming. Shot blocking is a skill, but when that's all you can do it's just a stat. It doesn't excuse his terrible coverage and turnovers, and the argument he was overused isn't valid to me. I saw far too many games where he'd turn the puck over on his first shift - overuse cannot be an excuse when it's happening at the beginning of games when he's fresh.
I have never spent as much time yelling at the tv as I did at him last year. I'd rather have a broken tooth with no pain meds than watch him again. My opinion, I thought he was okay his first couple years, but he went downhill in a big way last year and the fact someone gave him 30 mil for it is hilarious. - Isles_since_6
Absolutely it was. He was...I'd go so far as to say good early on. Not spectacular in any way, but steady. This past season though he was like Gervais.

problem is he is being paid like a top pairing guy and he is a 4 - Dan Petriw
No argument there, but people act like he has no place even being in the NHL and thats not true.. contract status means nothing.. i dont know why people get hung up on what someone is making especially on another team. There were quite a few teams that acquired about him when he was on the market.

I'm in the minority here, but I don't hate AMAC. He was overworked and misused. For the guy to be on the PP was a joke. If the isles had a real 1 and 2 dman, it would have pushed everyone back and AMAC would have been where he should have been. A 4,5,6 guy. - kindlyrick
Yes, he was overworked and misused. He played first d-man minutes when he should have been a six, if not watching from the press box. That's because this team is coached by someone who needs to have his tongue removed from the bus window when they arrive at the arena. |

Hey man I certainly have my share of being wrong with anything in life....but this becomes contentious when there's no need. It's like the certain groups of people who post all day everyday act like this is their blog and we should bow down.
I've seen other fans come on here and try to talk hockey only to be ridiculed and called a troll (which might I add I still don't understand the term..).
I think people need to get a grip and realize what this is. You wanna talk about fantasy land......well this is it.
I'd be curious to know how many people actually played this sport, work in it, or actually have any connection to it other than blogging on hockeybuzz? - kindlyrick

I seriously hope they change the lottery system like they're discussing so the odds aren't so weighted for the worst team. Only because Sabres fans have been such utter douche bags on our thread for far too long now - Cptmjl
With our luck we would win the cup and win the lottery and they would still get the first pick from us.

Agreed....those are three guys who literally would not make the 2016-17 Islanders, at all- no prayer of making that team. We likely have 10 guys in the system right now who would be ahead of them...and Carkner.... |

I cringe every time someone says he's a top 4. In essence you're calling Snow a facking moron for trading him away due to that being exactly what this team needs. If you say well it's Capuano's fault for the way he used him you'd be wrong because he's our coach next year. Now everyone knows my opinion on Snow and i don't think he's a moron for this particular trade. In fact it was one of his better ones IMO and I'll say he's had a few(literally, lol). If you love Snow and think he's wonderful and you believe AMAC is a top 4 you're completely contradicting yourself. If that were the case then why didn't we just up the ante and pay him like a top4? Makes zero sense. - Cptmjl

Fair...not good. Being good on the Isles club when he first arrived was like being the smartest kid on the short bus. We had been watching guys like Gervais log major minutes at that point, so Amac looked 'promising' after his first year. It was the Isles club who decided to then set the bar high and begin screaming from rooftops that the kid was going to be a great dman etc, wearing chains, etc...
On a decent defensive corps, he struggles to break the lineup. |
