Young guys in the 25 year range signing extentions either off their ELC or 2 year bridge while hitting over 60points
Landeskog 5.5m
Tavares 5.5m
Seguin 5.7m
Benn 5.5m
Skinner 5.7m
Duchene 6.0m
Wheeler 5.6m
E Kane 5.5m
I think there is a lot more compariables to him hitting b/w 5.5m-6m rather than the over 6.5m mark - DDM-Coga

What would be added with this year to those salaries? I'd say no more than half a million. |

ROR and Colorado both seem to be sticking to their guns on this relationship. Does it make sense to trade him for Evander Kane? Both are awesome young players who just don't seem to see eye-to-eye with their teams. I'd rather have ROR but Roy could be the best or worst thing to ever happen to Kane. Kane makes a salary the Avs would be more comfortable with too. Kane + player/pick for ROR + player/pick could make sense... |

Only thing is ROR will be wanting a big pay day again next summer. So whoever gets him has to be cool with overpaying him long term. |

His numbers are incorrect. Avs are offering 5.75 not 5.25. - Iggysbff
I thought they were offering 5.525, or whatever the min is. Either way, there is a 0% chance he gets 5.25, as it is less than the minimum he can get.
I see a compromise somewhere in the neighborhood of a 6 year, 36 million dollar deal. How can you not give this guy what RNH or Eberle makes? Duchene makes 6 as well, so pay em the same an no feelings are hurt |

From what i've heard on the interwebs, O'Reilly's agent wanted to start talks at 6.5 and wasn't willing to take anything less than that. I don't think there are many people outside of the O'Reilly camp who would be upset with 36 over 6. |

If im Sakic I try to give him the same deal he gave Duchene. I find it hard to believe ROR is gonna hold out if they throw 36 or 42 million in his face |

Is that the minimum he can get in arbitration or the minimum of his qualifying offer? He was already offered his qualifying offer and rejected it so the avs can now offer anything and sign him to anything but im not sure if arbitration is also 85% of last years salary as a minimum or not. |

yeah arbitration follows the same rules as QO.
"Two sources told Adrian Dater of The Denver Post on Monday that O'Reilly is seeking $6.75 million on his contract for next season - up $250,000 raise from last season - while the Avalanche want to pay him $5.525 million. An arbitrator can't award O'Reilly less than 85 per cent of his base salary of $6.5 million last season - which is the exact amount the Avalanche are offering"
The flames really stuck it to the avs the way they structured the contract. an even 5 mil both years and the avs could have offered 4.25. ROR would have asked 6.75 and they coulda met somewhere in the middle around 5.5 long term |

Minimum qualifying offer was 6.5m. Avs did not give him a qualifying offer, they elected to arbitration in June, meaning he was a RFA without getting a QO; but still able to get offer sheets up until his arbitration date. |
