2 years ago everyone was saying how ROR would have been over paid at 5m bc hes not a 1st line Center, more a 3rd line C. Now everyone is piling on the Avs saying they were stupid for doing not something that the vast majority said would have been a terrible contract back then.
If Feaster didnt set his salary at 6.5m this would have been a non issue. Flames basicaly set the ability for him to cash in again with a blank cheque
Yes, the Avs di botch this one by holding a gun to his head low balling him to under the 2 year 7m bridge deal that Duchene signed at the same time. Now they are paying the price for both the offersheet and low balling him back then. - DDM-Coga

How? As in the blog the rules are stated what he can use as comparatives. None of his comparitive's are getting over 6. - Iggysbff
That is not true. He got 64 points. His compararables would be anyone in that range. Toews, St.Louis, Vanek, Landeskog, Spezza, Tavares, Eberle and Iginla are all within his range in terms of points. Half these guys make 6+ mill a season and the ones who don't are just under. |

Selective Memory at its worse.
I was pissed at the contract back then, and I will be pissed about what he will be ruled in arbitration bc either way it will be his last season as an Avalanche. |

Young guys in the 25 year range signing extentions either off their ELC or 2 year bridge while hitting over 60points
Landeskog 5.5m
Tavares 5.5m
Seguin 5.7m
Benn 5.5m
Skinner 5.7m
Duchene 6.0m
Wheeler 5.6m
E Kane 5.5m
I think there is a lot more compariables to him hitting b/w 5.5m-6m rather than the over 6.5m mark |

Again....
He cannot compare to anyone that signed a ufa contract. So he is not comparing to iginla, Spezza, Vanek, Toews or MSL. Guys he is allowed to compare against that signed comparable RFA contracts are Hall, Duchene, Landeskog, Seguin, Eberle, Nuge, Landy, Skinner etc....all who make 6 mill or less. |

Think you guys are overestimating what Kreider would get. My guess is more around 2.5. |

They'll have no problem getting all 3, plus J. Moore for around 12m. Brassard is on crack if he thinks he's getting that. He'll be lucky to get 4.5. |

Looks fake. You'd think some of the bystanders would at least turn their heads to look. None of them even flinched. |

Ek's wording and subsequently yours is incorrect. He cannot compare to UFA contracts, but he can still compare to those players who have signed them. Vanek was at 7.1m as a RFA. Toews was at 6.3m as a RFA. |

Old contracts still allowed as comparison. And 6.3m is still Toews current contract. |

Kreider will not get over 3M. He was still considered a rookie last year being his first full NHL season. He can not use UFA signings as comparables because he is restricted. His numbers are okay, not spectacular. The only real point that benefits him is his value to his own team, the Rangers do pretty well when he's in the lineup and generally win when he contributes on the scoresheet. Beyond that, Kreider has not established and concrete consistent production. I think he will be awarded $2.25 - $2.75M. |

Kreider has asked for 2.8, Rangers have counted for with 1.9 or 2.2. This all via Freidman's twitter profile.

No, it's not particularly technologically advanced. The cell service isn't even strong enough for our fans to google how many periods are in a hockey game.

but im sure being signed under the old CBA has some effect on them too.
Since they changed RFA rules under the new one (compensation etc).
Toews and Vanek did sign theirs right off of their ELC, over paying the first couple years so its on par or a steal near the end of the contract. So the bridge deal strategy is off the table, ROR got his "bridge" from the Flames.
Also Vanek scored 40 goals the year he signed his offersheet and Toews just won a conn smythe and a cup for the team he captained.
I dont think a 28 goal season and a Lady Byng holds as much as weight as those 2 |

Losing 2 top 6 players within a year is not good management,
no matter the reasons.
They should have just given him 6.5 and be done with it.
They might save a mil, but lose the impact player.
Not that I give a damn, of course.
