If they can get back into the mid 2nd round in 2015 with Franson I think Nonis will have done okay...don't forget what the Leafs acquired him for...still a net gain. - Deeps27
exactly how i feel.. got a few points out of him during his RFA years but now its time to let go and move on
if they end it right, good management by the leafs |

he also got his face smashed in and came back playing with a visor which was new and he wrecked his knee
to say that didnt have an impact is kind of unfair
but he was just a 6th - 7th journeyman.. i know what he was - Dozzer
Fraser was by far and glaringly the worst player on the ice at the time, +18 or not. |

I thought that also...but the stats show he always sucked... just had a good run of luck that season |

robidas was told he would be playing with gardiner or rielly when he was signed. - Dozzer
If a good partner does not emerge for dion and if dion struggles early - would be a logical move to put robidas with him |

a fractured skull has nothing to do with OI sh% - senstroll
as dozzer pointed out, wearing a visor as a result could easily have an impact...like to see the stats enthusiast put some facts behind the rise and fall in the numbers vs. the luck argument. |

fraser and franson were third pairing vs lower caliber NHL players, where they should have been.
fraser was a beast, shot block, fighter, moved bodies infront, he did his job...as did franson that season. |

It is basically going to be a puzzle, move around the pieces until they fit and hopefully not force one into a position it is not meant to be in. |

More of this this offseason than the last...we'll be in for a doozy of a 2015 offseason if this keeps trending - Deeps27
this offseason has gone well
the offseason before was a nightmare other than bernier. |

i admit he was fringe at best.. but a couple injuries and the visor ended his career imo
he was just getting to the age where he was becoming a decent servicable bottom pairing stay at home guy
i'm not sad he's gone, believe you me |

Ther's that glimmer of talent Franson showed infrequently last year that will just tease another GM enough to think they can get more out of him...deployed correctly he can be a value to a team, but not with Rielly/Gardiner on the roster in the offensive roles. 4/5 somewhere else and PP guy. Not a fit in TO anymore, especially after the blood spilled last two offseasons. |

i did like his play, solid 6th D man, a force he was, nobody wanted to F with Fraser.
great for the money, i had no problem but he did take a step back after the puck in the head and injury, simple as that, time was up, moved on.
problem was, franson moved to second pairing and got exposed. |

Fraser was by far and glaringly the worst player on the ice at the time, +18 or not. - jerseyleaf
This, in a nutshell, is the problem with Leafs fans.
Fraser was a fantastic 6th-7th defenceman.
He was a mean S.O.B.
He wasn't afraid to drop the gloves. He wasn't afraid to block shots. He wasn't afraid to sweep the front porch.
He quietly and happily ate popcorn in the pressbox when he didn't dress.
He could reliably play 12 minutes a night against the other team's 3rd and 4th lines.
And he did all that for about a million bucks a year.
But he wasn't good enough to make the all-star team, so he must have sucked.
Remember how we ran Hal Gill out of town?
It's the stupidity that unites us all.
P.S. Of course, after he had his head squished, he wasn't the same player. So I'm not calling for the return of Fraser. |

wearing a visor has nothing to so with shooting % while a player is on the ice.
the league average is like 8% or something... he was 15% or something like that iirc. thats like double the nhl average.
this is not rocket science.. things return to the mean.. a Visor does not affect that
for whatever reason...during that short season.. puck went in while he was on the ice...it happens. Thats why stats are great you can suss this stuff out... and realize he sucks and dont bother resigning him |
