Did you look at his point totals though? Giveaways, possession, defensive zone coverage and corsi against, isnt everything, dozzer - Colin Dambrauskas
All these stats are just as circumstantial. I take it most of these people don't actually watch the games, and just look at stats. |

Paul Ranger and Morgan Rielly were both worse than Franson in that regard. - jerseyleaf
so the 7th d-man who made a million bucks and is now playing in europe and a teenaged rookie
good peers for a franson comparison

The whole leaf defense sucked last year not just Franson, he had a good season in 13, maybe it was the shortened season, who knows but I believe the leafs collapse last year was because of Carlyle, he totally lost the team, how he handled the goaltending, calling guys out, most of the time the wrong ones, he totally lost the respect of the team and some guys mentally bailed. - ISRLabradorLeaf Yep Franson has size ,speed and good vision and hands .Good defensemen take time Franson is no different

As I said in the other blog, Carlyle is set in his ways of putting Franson with Phanuef on the 1st PP unit, every PP with those two together has resulted in a 2 on 1 against shorthanded.
Was a great chance for extended ice time for Gardiner and Rielly but it is looking as the same old garbage. He needs to be moved for the growth of the other two. - LeafMan

After the lockout shortened season, everyone in here wanted to have Fransons children and lock him up long term. Now everyone wants to dump him for a bag of pucks |

thats not even true..
once decent season with fraser basically covering his ass defensively, otherwise, a routinely healthy scratch before then
he was moved as compensation for a 3 million dollar salary dump
3 million.. thats it. |

He's a point-producing defenseman who will likely always require sheltered minutes.
He would be an effective 5/6 guy getting #1 PP minutes on a team that's lacking offense from the backend, but with Phaneuf, Rielly, Gardiner, I think we have enough offense from the D on this team; where he once was a rare right-handed shot, we have that covered in Robidas and Polak (and Phaneuf, who likes to play the right-side anyways). |

how he has so many hits is basically Fraud...hes soft as a grape - PinkSock
I would say that the hit numbers are inflated, but I have no doubt he was one of the hit leaders on the team. It's funny because the previous season, people generally liked his play, but moaned about him not being physical enough for a big player. The guy then goes out and becomes one of the more physical D on the team...but now he sucks defensively all the while ignoring the fact that whole team sucked in that department. |

agreed.. terrible d-man
reasonable if paired with a defensive guy.. but he wants to be paid like a second pairing guy and he simply isnt up to par to that job |
