$ not really an issue on one year deal. Keep him, see how he's doing, how the kids are doing and whether Leafs gave shot still play-offs. If it comes down to it, trade closer to deadline. The return will be better.

I think we've seen enough of Franson to know what's there. He's a 30 point defender who doesn't skate very well but thinks he's an offensive defender anyway. If they don't move him now, he's a UFA next year and you lose him for nothing.

Franson is better than Del Zotto. If Franson could figure out that he should never pinch under any circumstance he could be ok. He has a nice point shot and he plays physical enough. I still think he sucks though lol.

Let him go if that's the case. At most I expect a 2nd back for Franson, which will start to decrease as time goes by. I wouldn't be worried about him leaving for nothing in a year if you can't move him, and I really don't consider that poor asset management as he would have been given four years with the Leafs.

I'd rather get a back-up or a draft pick than nothing at all especially when whatever little he does provide can be easily replaced by Rielly, Gardiner and Del Zotto. Considering all the draft picks Bolland cost us to walk after a year, the Leafs need to do a bit of restocking.

$3.3m is nothing compared to paying $7m for Gomez for how many years?
