$ not really an issue on one year deal. Keep him, see how he's doing, how the kids are doing and whether Leafs gave shot still play-offs. If it comes down to it, trade closer to deadline. The return will be better.

I think Del Zotto is a risk that other teams wouldn't be willing to take whereas Franson might be viewed as the safe pick-up.

Plus, home town discount for Del Zotto right?

Yeah but in Franson they get a guy who CAN skate when healthy (he was dealing with hip injury literally ALL season and didn't miss games, whats up warrior!) , he is one of the only leafs defencemen who seems to have a knack for getting pucks through traffic to the net, he has a bomb of a shot, and was 2nd in the entire NHL for hits. Del zotto is speedy and good at puck movement but other than that not much special which is why he is a UFA right now...not saying Franson is leaps and bounds better but he is worth more because he can do more. Even with his hip injury I remember some beauty ass plays Franson stepped up on including one of Kadri's sexiest goals haha
