I agree 100%. I'm just not convinced Bernier is durable enough to play 60+ games. |

4th amount of even strength icetime for d-men on the Leafs, but he got the second most amount of power play time. He had 282 hits, more than any other NHL d-man.
Franson’s numbers on the attack indicate an above average to strong puck mover. He had 29 points in 45 games in the lock-out season, 33 points in 79 games last year.
He was sent out for a high percentage of defensive zone-starts, though that’s not unusual in Toronto, a team that had a lot of defensive zone-starts.
He most commonly played against players like Tyler Ennis, Steve Ott, Tomas Plekanec, Ville Leino, Matt Read, Valtteri Filppula, Drew Stafford, Drew Miller, Troy Brouwer, Brian Gionta, Jordan Staal and Brian Flynn and Nathan Gerbe
,
not sure where he got those players from

18 of his 33 points were from the PP.
So he scored or assisted on 15 goals ES. To get to -20, that means he was on the ice for 35 goals against compared to his contributions ES, or three times as much.
This number only gets worse when you realize the -20 is actually inflated due to the number of goals he was on the ice for in which he did not contribute to point-wise. - mcleafs
But this argument swings both ways. He was undoubtedly on the ice for goals against that he had nothing to do with as well. This is the flaw in the +/- stat, and why it should be ignored. |

Oh no doubt, but just using it as an indicator if you play percentage likelihood's it still tells a story.
Without even watching a game, what are the chances that it skews so far to the unlucky for Franson that he had nothing to do with a larger portion of GA to skew his +/-?
The problem with this as well is that so many of us here watched a ton of the games, and saw how much of a liability he was.
Another telling stat? Cody's most common partner last year was Jake, who is a whopping +17 better than he. That's a pretty staggering difference considering just how often they paired together. |

yeah i wish there was a easy to find QoC stat. ice time would mean more if we could see who he was playing against. |

so why did you tell me to set it to 2500 minutes - PinkSock
because you switched it to 3 years from 5 (and left it at 3000 mins)
Franson is then not on the list since he only played 2600 (only 57 games 3 seasons ago)
so you made it seem like in the past 3 years he wasnt even in the top 50 in points per 60 ....but he was actually 9th
hope this clears things up

And you think Vokoun or Thomas or Marty would be good enough? I just think Reimer is the best option out there as a backup...providing he gets his head screwed on right about his role. Maybe he can be sold on the idea that the quickest way back to starter is to play well and get traded.
And I would venture we need better goaltending to stay in games than LA...and most teams actually. |
