I apologize if this has already been covered, but in my humble opinion, putting Clarkson on the third line is a huge, huge mistake.

Simply put, if he doesn't score close to 20 this year, the rest of his time in Toronto (however long that is) is going to be excruciatingly painful. Fans will not tolerate him being here and making that much cake to play on the 3rd line.

They need to put him on the 2nd line to start the season, 1st PP unit, and pray to the hockey gods that he finds some sorta magic.

There is no alternative.

i think there is some truth in that, but moreso not which line is defined as 3 or 4, i think they both see some decent ice time as komarov and kontiola will be with bodie lots, and both line will have some use, unlike having mclaren and orr out there.

if the nhl average for 5+ seasons is 8% for every player in that has played and a player has a season at 15%

its safe to say he got some lucky bounces while on the ice that season.. and in turn will benefit with more points and better +/- traditional stats that help you get another contract

now if he was always around 15% his career.. then ok..not so much luck.. but since even the best players are not... safe to say its luck...or whatever word you like to use for random variances or unsustainable things

i hope lupul has a good offseason and stays healthy throughout, would be great to have him and kadri playing a quality season - almost guarentee's playoffs with phil and jvr being so electric.

that's pretty rare... you'll likely see 2-3 guys separate themselves as being able to handle increased responsibility, and 2-3 guys show themselves to be incapable of playing any kind of significant role.

I'm the one who laments people not recognizing guys for the roles they play.

Komarov - 4th liner who doesn't really make a difference. So quit expecting him to win the Leafs a Stanley Cup.

Fraser - 3rd pairing guy who doesn't really make a difference. So quit criticizing him for not winning the Leafs a Stanley Cup.
