After the lockout season and the first 20 games of last year yeah...I think he redeemed himself nicely though.

Just good to know that I always believed in him

everyone was ready to kick him out of town, but he had 2 less points and 2 more goals than Eller, who was suddenly the new #1 center entering the 13-14 season.

No one is horny over this deal. Currently this is neither a good, neither a bad contract. We can only hope that the current ~$1M overpayment will be offset during his UFA years.

I'm not fond of him, but he got some tools and maybe he'll be able to pull himself together on a more consistent basis. It's a gamble, and IMO the worst that can happen is that he stagnates and continues to be overpaid by $1M during 4 years.

Could suck, but we've seen worse.

- EssuieToutJeune

Perfectly sums it up. And even if he continues to suck during the regular season, and continues to bring it, assuming we make the playoffs, it's a steal.

#1 center playing with the best winger on the team should make more points than Eller playing with 2 kids...

Plus he's very small and used to be horrible on defense (he improved last year though)

I'll be honest here. Looking at other contracts, I am fine with this deal. Peeps freaking out over a 750K overpayment on a 70M cap? We got Max and Carey on sweet deals which more than compensates. And I am quite confident Eller will live up to his contract.

I was talking about the shortened season. Eller was +8 and DD -2. Last year Eller sucked horribly and DD had a pretty good season after a bad start.

Put Eller with Kessel and JVR and I am positive he gets similar or better stats.

Edit: Than Ballsack.

So DD's riding on Pacioretty's coattails the same way Eller was riding on Bourque's during the Tampa series?

LOL. Entire playoffs, this year, and the short one last year. Eller was the best forward. It's not even debatable.

That Eller could be good like 2 years ago or suck like last year...only time will tell.

And you're (frank)ing annoying

I can agree with that. Eller could somehow find consistency and become a Plekanec-lite. I don't see it, but it's not impossible.

Out of 4 seasons he's had 1 good one, so last year is probably the norm for him.
