You should relax a bit.

You're right.

26 points players usually deserve these types of raise.

Good move.

Same here. I was 4 when they seperated. What I got from my dad is to never sweat the small stuff. Say hello to people, even people you see walking down the street, and especially, say thank you to the cashiers, janitors, taxi drivers and such. Basically, to brighten other people's days!

Take a step back and breathe....

not even a year ago, fans labeled him the next 1st line center.

Yeah...those 26 points did suck.

3,5M cap hit for the next 4 years might not look bad down the road when he averages out 40 points a season, wins 50% + of his faceoofs and maybe turns into a decent shutdown center. HE can step in when hot as the #2 center and was good last year and the previous year's playoffs.

Looking at his regular season stats, I would agree. look at the last two playoffs, he was the best forward on the ice... Until he got knocked out against Ottawa. 3.5M is ok with me for someone who brings it when it counts.

Were those fans on crack?

He's a third line centre on a good team. Funny how people poop on Bergy and Desharnais (a productive centre) yet these same people are all horny over this deal.

He's gonna have to generate more O and be more responsible with his D if he's going to live up to his contract.

Agreed, and I think he will if he can get any kind of stable and somewhat productive linemates.

3,5M won't be a big contract 3 years from now for a 3rd line center that can chip in 40/45 points a season, win more faceoffs than lose some and play a decent d-game.

He's 25 with some "room" to improve a bit. And that bit might be enough to make it worth 3,5M a season.

Seriously... there are worst contracts out there.

Some wanted DD shipped out of town after signing $3.5 million deal... following a 60pts season.

It's not a great deal but it's not that bad...only time will tell. But up until now Eller didn't do much to deserve such a payoff.

After the lockout season and the first 20 games of last year yeah...I think he redeemed himself nicely though.

No one is horny over this deal. Currently this is neither a good, neither a bad contract. We can only hope that the current ~$1M overpayment will be offset during his UFA years.

I'm not fond of him, but he got some tools and maybe he'll be able to pull himself together on a more consistent basis. It's a gamble, and IMO the worst that can happen is that he stagnates and continues to be overpaid by $1M during 4 years.

Could suck, but we've seen worse.
