If MT plays him with Galchy and Gally for all seasons I believe (more I hope) he could rack up at least 40pts this season

Eller has 8 goals and 30 points during the shortened season = #1 center

Desharnais has 10 goals and 28 points during the shortened season = ship him out of town

- EssuieToutJeune

Bah, they are both 3rd line centers. Except Eller produced more in the last playoffs.

Honestly, I don't hate him... but I clearly fail to see what others seem to see in him.

He's a third line center to me and that's it.

What do you think?

I see a guy with the physical gifts to be a 1st line centre, but doesn't know how to use them. That, with his lack of production puts him on the third line, and it is obvious that he isn't comfortable throwing around his body since he's softer than butter left outside on a Summer day.

The 'but potential' excuse is now out the window and he better prove himself because $3.5 million for him... Yikes!

This contract just shows that in the NHL you don't have to do anything to get paid.

I was perfectly fine with 2 years 2,5M per. Give him a chance to prove he can play for 82 games, not disappear for 60. If he succeeds, sign him long term.
But giving him 4 years, after the season he had last year... meh. These 2 additional years really make me puke.

He had some pretty good playoffs, but yes. Bergevin is just throwing money left and right.

he truly is a a 3rd line centre, but I think 3.5M is what they cost now, similar to how a first line player use to get 7M and now they get 10.5M

Of course he's a 3rd line center, but 3rd line centers do not disappear for 4 months in the middle of the season!!!!

thats the risk with sports those last 2 years would be UFA years if he is good years 1 and 2 stupid teams would offer him Clarkson money and you lose him

that 1M over payment is offset with the hopes that cap goes up in years 2, 3 and 4

Players are getting more money (ROR at 6M per year?) and the cap is rising but I still would have like a bridge deal for him.

Subban is the one they should have signed long term. They knew what they had with him and that he would get huge $ later on.
