That's what I told her, but she said she called them and they told her there was nothing they could do. I guess prepaid visas have different protections, or lack thereof.

Let me get this straight, she gave them her visa numbers etc, to pay for the supposed prepaid visa?
If so, that's bullpoop because someone with a legit visa merchant number, machine and account, charged her card and gave her nothing in return, and visa paid that money to them.
Visa should not be opening accounts with god damn shysters.
Visa has to refund that money to her and debit the account of whoever charged her.
She should call again, this time maybe not so friendly...

She applied for a loan. They said in order to approve, rather than getting proof of employment via pay statements, she had to buy a $500 prepaid visa to prove she had regular income. Normal people would laugh at such a stupid theory, but she thought it was legit. She bought the card, gave the info, and they drained the card and then came back asking for "processing fees". It was only at this point did she ask me for help.
The folks at Visa don't give such fraud protection on prepaid cards, and won't "reverse" a transaction. Those are apparently reserved for regular cardholders, which she is not. |

She didn't buy the prepaid card from the shysters, she bought the prepaid card and gave the shysters the info on it.
Makes sense now, live and learn I guess.
Now give her some money so she can go the wedding.
