Kid has a chance to be a stud. Hope the Flyers land him.

I see the Rags signed Stempniak.... he was signed for less than the Flyers gave N. Schultz....

Agreed, which IMHO is more reason the Flyers need to kick the tires on this kid. I don't see him signing in Philly but you gotta kick the tires.

"46. For a while now it's been assumed that if 2010 first-round pick Kevin Hayes decides not to sign in Chicago, his first choice would be Florida. That's where his brother Jimmy plays. There are rumblings, though, that the Panthers may choose not to go this route. That makes the favourites Boston (where he went to school) or Pittsburgh (Tom Fitzgerald is a cousin). If he does not sign with the Blackhawks by Aug. 15, he will be a free agent."

I didn't know that. I think the rangers would be fine dealing brassard if Hayes was willing to commit to them
- PhillySportsGuy

I wonder if it'll cost that much.

He walks with no strings attached on Aug 15th, no?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Could even deal someone out of their bottom 6 too. It could be risky business though, moving an established NHLer just to sign a highly touted prospect. But if they get Hayes to commit anything's possible.

the Flyers can offer Hayes something the Bruins and Rangers can't, though. Possible top 6 time in short order. maybe not immediately, but sooner than the others.

He's a RW, but if he could convert to left...

well, lets be honest. Umberger, Raffl, Rinaldo, Rosehill, and a mysterious Frenchman named Bellemare. The kid would at least have a shot at some serious LW ice time.

- Hesh_

That bottom 6 has a chance to be frighteningly bad.

I see the Rags signed Stempniak.... he was signed for marginally less than the Flyers gave N. Schultz, who doesn't play the same position and really has nothing to do with him

yeah, I've been following that "he wants to play in florida with his brother" thing.

My guess is that a big hockey market that can offer great playing time might make him consider elsewhere.

Even worse.

I don't think the flyers are a huge draw for young players without nhl experience. Once in the league, players seem to appreciate the organization a lot more. It could be through personal experience or just having a good reputation around the league

that's not out bottom 6, unfortunately.

That's all of our potential starting LWs, pending Schenn doesn't move up to the first line and anchors the 2nd

I think most people believe he's ready to contribute now and his elc will only help a teams cap situation. I just get the feeling the rangers aren't in love with brassard. Losing him, Boyle, pouliot and Richards would hurt their depth in the short term though

for the love of Bernie, somebody find us a winger that can score.

I realize a few players won't be where labeled (Schenn, et al), but yikes.

No 2015 2nd. We have the sharks 3rd and a pair of 4ths I believe. After 2015, we have all picks intact

Flyers will be offering the same amount of money as anyone else on an entry level contract. The kicker will be the promise of role and playing time.

I was referring to future contracts when I mentioned the cash. Yes, I know it's the same dollars today.

I'm just agreeing that he can get more playing time here so that we can overpay him later

really, I'm kidding on the overpayment part. It's just been a part of our history.

I've really got my fingers crossed with Hextall that he will change the culture to a Western style as soon as he can undo the giant knot put in front of him.

He's gotta show them you can still be nasty, and yet have talent, too

I'd rather he go out and reach his ceiling. I think he could be a Patrice Bergeron type guy if he got more opportunity to play offensively. His usage is staggeringly tilted to defense, he faces top quality competition and still scored almost as much as Schenn
- Jsaquella

That's my thinking. So why not give his offense a chance to really break thru by playing with playmakers like g and voracek? Obviously he is already a special d forward but he also had back to back 93 points season in the Q. Give him more of an offensive chance. It's not like his d prowess wil suffer. Plus imagine if g and voracek had couts d on their line. It would free up Giroux to be even more of an offensive force knowing couturier is there to clean up the definsive liability. I'm not saying leave him at wing for his career, I'm saying give him a season playing in an offensive role instead of just shut down no pp time c. Would it help schenn or couturier more playing on g wing? I say it would help couts more.

Maybe we can put Andrew MacDonald on Giroux's wing so we get more production out of him.
