That would still be an improvement on Gagner, all Draisaitl has to do to be an upgrade for us this season is to top 37 pts, be better than a -29 and top a 46.8 FO%. Although Gagner probably would've got more pts than that if he played a full season.

Nah...hanging out on the Sabres thread. Those guys are pretty convinced the Islanders will be the worst team in the East this year. I was just telling them I thought would make the playoffs. Good convo tho.

and lets not forget the size difference between the two. that absolutely comes into the conversation when making a comparison.

im sure sam gagner will be more successfull offensively than LD wouldve been this year. even if sam had stayed with the oilers.
but if theyre even comparable in some other areas (alot of them that are not extremely quantifiable, but just need to be seen) as well as moving gagners contract before his ntc kicked in---for more needed size. missing sam will be the least of our worries.

Their D still has issues but they improved in net and up front.

Your probably right...SG had the defensive reliability of an 18 year old rookie any way so LD might not be much of a downgrade at all.
