Dude, you'll never see a pair of pads in the store like the guys in the NHL wear. Those things are customized to every detail. Breakpoints, straps, inner material, skate cups, angles, etc.

Quick and Scrivens both wear the same branded pad, but they are nothing alike.

I think it was Roloson who, when switching from TPS to Warrior, just sent his glove, and only his glove, in to get re-covered because he didn't want to switch.

Same thing with Brodeur. When he made the switch to Sherwood, all his stuff was still the CCM gear but Sherwood stitched their logos on it and repaired some of the wear.

Then last year I think Sherwood finally managed to reduplicate all the specs so they wouldn't have to repair and rebrand his CCM pads again.

Skates are the one thing I've never cheaped out on and I won't.

If you have a poop pair of skates, its just not worth it. I'll drop more on skates than I probably should, but having a good pair really goes a long way.
