I take the game changer that outproduces and can take the team on his back everyday of the week.

Its been stated...

If Ebs was what you think he is he'd be a Selke nominee....He's an offensive support guy. Not a 200 ft game thinker or player. Weak on the boards. Is somewhat of a pp specialist. Only 37 of his 65 points at 5 vs 5.

So explain to us where is this hockey vision and IQ? He would be an assist machine if he had this elite vision....

Helluva post.

Of course both have room to grow, but I think we've sorta seen the type of game ebs will bring offensively. Which isnt meant to be a slight, just that his skillset might be abit more marginalized id he doesnt have the opportunity to use those fantastic hands in tight spaces.

Whereas I believe hall has a ton of room to learn the game and be more effective when hes not able carry the puck at top speed

It sounds weird but I think Hall would really benefit by shaving half an inch or even an inch off his stick.

He carries the puck a bit further off his body than other guys which has its benefits - further from the defenders in space, bit more reach to exercise angles with - but not the greatest in tighter coverage because it can be more difficult to handle the puck in tight space as well as when you need to bring it in from defenders.

oh (frank) yeah. Hall's a special player. Eberle isn't exactly dime a dozen but a guy like him is more common.

Wouldn't it be easier to just order shorter sticks or cut them? Shaving an inch seems like a lot of work.

I've noticed his stick is too long and he exposes his limbs when he's too far away and tries to reach. Hasn't resulted in injury yet, but shaving an inch off may stop him from reaching so much and taking a full on hit to his extended arms.

Players are weird dude.

I'm not entirely sure if you can order shorter sticks to be honest. When you see unused pro-stock 80% the sticks are the same height. Ben Eager's stock sticks were the same as Gagner's. What guys that use shorter ones tend to do is just have the specs altered so that they become "normal" after cutting them down.

Unrelatedly related, I played with a guy who wouldn't cut his sticks down because he thought the saw jeopardized the integrity of the shaft and would instead spend forever with the file to take the inch or so he wanted off.

He has a unique release when entering the zone that really seems to play off the stick as well.

Honestly I'd leave him the way he is. The guy was better than a PPG last year, he isn't the one that needs to get better for this team to get better. Let him be, not worth the risk of him getting worse because he's trying new things.

I agree. I'm just arm chair equipment managering.

He's probably tried it in practice or maybe exhibition and didn't like it.

I was at an equipment sale when Souray was with the team and he had certain sticks marked "practice" and they were all different than the game marked ones. I assume those were the ones he'd Richard around with and (frank)ulate for experiments.

Why did everyone flip the (frank) out when it was suggested Eberle isn't at present worth way way way more than 6 million dollars?

And why would people bring up the value other teams place on him? Isn't that the exact thing that oilers fans gripe about when uneducated fans of other teams make outlandish claims about Yakupov's work ethic or that Hall is overrated?

- Morris

It's stupid to female dog about his contract as we just signed other ones which are a hell a lot more risky then Eberle's. Only other thing that bothers me is to read Eberle is a 65 point guy and nothing more. He has lot's of room to improve his game both defensively and offensively

Yeah guys are superstitious with sticks. Weber was looking at changing sticks a couple years back. Tried out a bunch. Said after taking 4-5 slappers they would lose their shaft strength. One manufacturer even went as far as breaking down his current stick inch by inch and analyzing it to try to duplicate...he didnt like the one they made either...

That sounds like Al MacInnis way back when he said he wouldn't ever give up using a wooden stick.

I dont think we're ' b1tching' per se.
Just having a discussion on his worth. Someone mentioned hes unequivocally worth more than 6. I disagree.

But yes, in relation to pure dollar value, theres certainly worse on the oilers

Reebok spent like 3 years trying to duplicate Sherwood's blades for Sid.

The companies will go all out for stars to use their stuff. A lot of guys don't even use the stick they are "using".

A lot of guys used the Vapor XXX stick but just had Vapor XXXX stickers and paint on it. Hardly any guys in the NHL use or ever used the Stealth models from like 2007-2010. They were all the SE but painted to look like the stealth.

Before Ovechkin switched to Bauer, his CCM sticks were actually Bauer ones but they'd be sent to CCM for recovering.

I remember reading that Sid's skates aren't actually Reebok and they're Bauer or Easton and some poor sap at Reebok has to custom image the outside of the boot so it looks like Reebok.
