Ebs vision and hockeysense is nears tops on this team- I would rank Nuge as the only player of that level or higher... fact...

Pretty sure you can throw Hallsy in that category too if you want to go that route... Or moreso the entire Oilers team last 2 seasons...
- saskoil21

Eberle more than Hall, I thought Hall improved defensively over the course of the season last year.

Couple that with the fact that Ebs production goes way down when he doesnt play with Hall....Ebs contract is marginal right now. He may look great this year or next but to say 6 mill last yr was a steal?
- Iggysbff

Yep.

I love ebs. We all do. Hes capable of 80.
But after the last 2 years, its completely fair to at least question the contract.

You have been posting the doozies...

As I and others have said. Ebs has not shown too much when he doesnt get to play with Hall. Ebs has some sweet hands. But no wear near being a driving force on this team. Excellent complimentary guy.

Its fair to question the entire team last year really- when the entire team plays like ass and you dont get the first pass out of the defensive zone- basically your fuct before you start... but I agree you can question Eberle- but remember what a steal he was at 1.7 mill prior to 2 years ago when he lead this team??

I disagree with the last statement. Eberle has the 19th most points over the past 3 years in the NHL. He may not bring the physical aspect or be great defensively but I think he is already worth his contract. He has more points than some fairly notable players http://www.quanthockey.co...asons-forwards-stats.html

Yup. Definitely Nashville's own fault.
- Iggysbff

There is no way they could have honestly tricked themselves into thinking he wasn't going to get a contract like that. Not after what Suter was handed in FA.

And if they hadn't Richarded around a year earlier and had committed to Weber sooner then maybe they make a stronger case to Suter and he sticks around.

Never- Hall does not have greater hockey vision or IQ than Eberle... Hall uses his speed- straight north and south with likely a turnover or 2... Hall is way more physical too...

Don't think Hall is ahead of Ebs in that sense. Probably even or slight edge for Eb IMO

Hall's vision and passing is better than he get credit for, but he still has lots of room to grow in his reads.

I'd hand it to Ebs now but in a year or two I think Hall will really learn how to differentiate his zone entries which is something I think Eberle does better.

Ebs has a really good first 2-3 steps which allows him to slow up and get going again and (frank) with the coverage.

Hall still seems to only want to go at 100MPH which is great for odd man rushes, but not so great when he's 1 on 3 and needs to delay for support.

Its not slight for hockey vision and IQ when comparing the 2... Hall creates space with his speed not vision or IQ

These are good points

Eberle's first couple steps are very quick but lacks that top end speed like Hall (although not many can keep up with Hall). Yakupov is similar to Eberle in that regard. Quick first steps but tails off, however is working hard on that specifically this summer

Hall has improved on his zone entries and pulling up for support since his rookie season where he would go full tilt and get creamed. Still has some room to grow in this aspect.

Why did everyone flip the (frank) out when it was suggested Eberle isn't at present worth way way way more than 6 million dollars?

And why would people bring up the value other teams place on him? Isn't that the exact thing that oilers fans gripe about when uneducated fans of other teams make outlandish claims about Yakupov's work ethic or that Hall is overrated?

Its encouraging to hear Yakupov is working on that, but if anyone expects it to pay off immediately they're (frank)ing dumb.

It took the Twins like 3 off seasons to really become faster players where they specifically focused hard on skating exercises.

Jarrett Stoll was on the radio like a week or two ago and said that it took him 4 years of footwork training before he really become a good skater from an average one.

Maybe since Yak is younger it'll come quicker, but a lot of people have this delusion where all it takes is the 3 months of the off season to fix a part of a players game and if it doesn't happen in 3 months well the player is doomed

Helluva post.

Of course both have room to grow, but I think we've sorta seen the type of game ebs will bring offensively. Which isnt meant to be a slight, just that his skillset might be abit more marginalized if he doesnt have the opportunity to use those fantastic hands in tight spaces.

Whereas I believe hall has a ton of room to learn the game and be more effective when hes not able carry the puck at top speed

Its been stated...

If Ebs was what you think he is he'd be a Selke nominee....He's an offensive support guy. Not a 200 ft game thinker or player. Weak on the boards. Is somewhat of a pp specialist. Only 37 of his 65 points at 5 vs 5.

So explain to us where is this hockey vision and IQ? He would be an assist machine if he had this elite vision....
