I doubt ROR's camp could be convinced of that. He wants cash. Piles of it. I dont think he gives a poop about winning. Why would he have signed an offer sheet with the Flames last season? Cash. - Iggysbff
You don't the opportunity to wear the Flaming C was appealing? |

Sure.if I were the Avs Ibwould want Marc Giordano and Bob Backland. - Jeropotato

If I were the Flames I would be open to it.....Gio isn't going to get traded though I don't think.

Defense and cheap things.
If Calgary is looking to protect Bennett, Monahan, the 1st, etc. It'll be Gio and Gadreau - Morris
I would they'd be looking harder at a guy like Brodie. Young, solid numbers, and fills a need. Then they'd likely want a guylike Backlund for their 3rd line. |

Force your gm's hand so you can play and not sit out anymore? At some point every RFA will sign an offer sheet.
It's not like GM of COL never signed one.
Backes signed on on July 1st one year and no one really questions his motives. |

Gio is a right shot, right?
I think they need a left shot guy like Brodie.
Brodie + Backlund for ROR as the main pieces seems more likely to me |

Burke thought it was more important to pay an aging Bertuzzi to not score and not play with Getz/Perry than it was to pay Penner.
Players like to get paid. Winning's probably only worth like 500k discount to most of them.
Weber wanted to get paid, and Nashville wasn't tabling a serious offer. Did the same thing. |

He's not my buddy, pal.
But I've narrowed it down to 3 candidates:
1. RazzleDazzle
2. BigErn4MVP

I'd say he's more than a 6 million dollar player now. 6 million now isn't what it was in 2009. - DTF69
This... Ebs is easily more than a 6 mill player per now... |

Not like Weber didn't deserve to get paid. He wanted a fair contract not a budget contract that NSH was offering. |

If the Flames are trading for O'Reilly, they'll either give up the greater sum of parts or the best piece. With all of the picks and prospects Calgary is stockpiling, I just don't see a "fair" deal. |

Totally. I would've done the same thing.
"Hey Poile, so every other mega star is getting a fat deal. I want one too!"
"How about 7 for like 4 years with no bonus money or front loading."
"No"
"k, how about like backloaded incrementally and 5 years"
"No"
"Well we'll just sit here and wait until you're reasonable then you Norris Calibre franchise defenceman!"
Did anyone question Benn when there was all that offer sheet hype before Dallas signed him? |

Weber had already been through Arb the year prior and got flamed by Nash management. He was awarded the highest ever Arb award I think. He knew he had only one option to force their hand. That said his contract is ridiculous... |

Its pretty reasonable if you ask me. I'd take that deal over Suter's. Only a couple guys league wide I'd take over Weber. |

I think he means the way the actual cash worked out.
7.8M or whatever for Weber is reasonable for a cap hit |
