I think calgary hangs up.
Maybe Backlund + 2015 1st is close but Calgary has to think of the amount to sign him and the likelihood that 2015 is a top 3 pick. - ystoil
I'm not sure Calgary can out terrible Buffalo and Florida. I'd even wager that the Coyotes and Leafs will find themselves sniffing farts at the bottom again.
And Edmonton is an injury to any centre away from having the worst middle ice in the league which means the team could easily be poop again.
Calgary has a lot to like, but it depends on if Hartley can be a competent coach or not. |

All signed years sooner before the market has begun to recorrect itself again.
If you adjusted the Skinner, Seguin, Ebs, Hall deals for inflation in player salary I bet they become 7-7.5 cap hits. - DTF69
But that's the point. Those deals were good because they anticipated inflation. Ebs is less than a 6 million dollar player currently, but with any luck he'll be more than a 6 million dollar player for a few years at the end of his deal. |

Winnipeg is probably super (frank)ed too.
And I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Avs were a low 80's point team which could have them in the lottery. |

Defense and cheap things.
If Calgary is looking to protect Bennett, Monahan, the 1st, etc. It'll be Gio and Gadreau |

I'd say he's more than a 6 million dollar player now. 6 million now isn't what it was in 2009. |

I think people are dreaming if they think Lander will be 2C. He has had opportunity after opportunity and has done nothing. Arco at least produced and didnt look lost when he was at 2C. I think Lander is done. I hope not but I see a 4 wing at best with him. He just has nothing when he gets called up. - Iggysbff

They didnt take discounted deals. Their deals are right in line with other RFA's. Hall, Nuge, Ebs, Skinner, Seguin, Benn, Duchene, Landy etc are all virtually identical. ROR wants more. - Iggysbff

2009 - Duchene
2010 - playoffs
2011 - Landeskog
2012 - playoffs
2013 - Mackinnon
2014 - playoffs
2015 - McEichel
Edit - no playoffs in 2012 but not bottom 5 in league |

I think you'd have to up the dollars then by eating up more UFA years. You save some AAV and he has another chance to get paid before he's old. - DTF69
I'm sure something like 7x7 could come around, but then they are looking at signing MacKinnon in that timeframe too. It's captastic! |

Well, neither Buffalo or Florida are great.
Buff - Hodgson, Ennis, Girgensons, Grigorenko, Reinhart
Florida - Bjugstad, Barkov, Bolland, Fleischmann
Edmonton - RNH, Gordon, Arcobello, Lander, Draisaitl
Edmonton's is made even worse because of how deep at centre the entire west is. |

The Av's could be an excellent case study in poor asset management. Maybe worse than the Predators and Leafs if things really go south. |

Yeah but if Edmonton even loses Gordon or Arcobello or even Lander then it doesn't matter if Nuge is healthy or not. |

Vancouver could be looking too. Never know when the Sedins are going to drop off and Bonino really hasn't proved much yet.
You then have CHI that could convince ROR to take less to be on a winning club. PHX could also look at upgrading on an aging Vermette. Lots of teams out there.

Sure.if I were the Avs Ibwould want Marc Giordano and Bob Backland. |

I think Vancouver is sorta intent on seeing what they have with Gaunce and Horvat.
I don't think they need to worry about Hank for another season or two. The whole teams scoring fell off a cliff last year but he was still winning faceoffs and pushing play like he has in his career.
Bonino's a total crapshoot. His numbers were grossly inflated by his PP time with Perry/Getzlaf but then again, he still had to make a play to be involved so there has to be something there. |

I doubt ROR's camp could be convinced of that. He wants cash. Piles of it. I dont think he gives a poop about winning. Why would he have signed an offer sheet with the Flames last season? Cash. |

We're lacking at 2C. Either that hurts us whether we're heatlhy or not, or it doesn't that much.
I think you're overrating the impact of Lander, who may not even line up at centre this year. In terms of bottom 6 centres, our depth is fairly average imo.
Arco, Gordon, Lander, Hendricks, Pitlick, Acton have all played centre in professional hockey. Some may not be ideal, but Yakimov, Miller and Khaira are also emergency options. And then of course Draisaitl. |
