Once ROR is gone, it becomes depth at center, quality wingers and actual NHL defencemen.

Or you could probably get him on a 5-6 yr deal at 6.5ish average which is totally reasonable in a league where Dave Bolland gets 5.5, Ryan Callahan gets 5.8, the Devil's sign poopty players to the deals they do, etc.

I don't think it has anything to do with "him wanting out". He just wants to get paid. Colorado just isn't overpaying. It happens with a lot of clubs. Take a look at what happened with Gagner a year ago.

I think he'd jump at the chance to go somewhere else. I don't think he wants out of the team, as much as he wants out of a management situation where they expect him to get paid less than he deserves because other players took discounted deals.

He's a young dude coming off a career year and is among elite company for young NHL forwards.

I think the Flames could put together a decent package for him. As long as they keep Bennett, Monahan and this years first i'm ok.

They didnt take discounted deals. Their deals are right in line with other RFA's. Hall, Nuge, Ebs, Skinner, Seguin, Benn, Duchene, Landy etc are all virtually identical. ROR wants more.

If you adjusted the Skinner, Seguin, Ebs, Hall deals for inflation in player salary I bet they become 7-7.5 cap hits.

Maybe Backlund + 2015 1st is close but Calgary has to think of the amount to sign him and the likelihood that 2015 is a top 3 pick.

I think you'd have to up the dollars then by eating up more UFA years. You save some AAV and he has another chance to get paid before he's old.
