Retiring at 50 would be nice but the kids will still be in high school/university. Plus those are prime earning years. Those extra 5 years banking the vast majority away will nicely pad the fund hopefully. I'm planning 55.

(frank) no. I generally have saving in case but last few months with everything has put a kibosh on that. The chances I make it to even 50 are pretty slim. That's 35 years post transplant that's a long ways.

Maybe that's the case, but have you lived here? As of now- from my perspective- it's a badly planned city with little to do and a small town, semi-redneck mindset (spawned from seniors).

55 is is probably more realistic as I get 90% pension, and like you said, prime earning years....but there is a lot of fun to be had in Mexico and the Philippines in those extra 5 years for 6 months out of the year.
I (frank)ing hate Canadian pension laws tho...having to stay here 6 months out of the year to spend money.

Anyway, I'm gonna giver balls out from 50 on tho, let the Government throw my body in a ditch and donate my estate to charity.

Plus at those years you'll probably have quite a bit of vacation saved up to go through out the year.
