No. Lou is god & has done no wrong.

Then missing the playoffs is part of his master plan.

Soon he'll accumulate enough bottom of the barrel FWs that NJ will lull teams into submission with their mediocre play, inability to score, and superb goaltending & above-average defense.

Parise leaving was part of the plan. KHL Kovy was part of the plan.

In Lou We Trust.

EDIT:
Oops, forgot to add "DESTINY 2015".

Now I'm one of the cool kids.

God I wish the Oilers would have grabbed Severson I think I've already been in here praising him a bunch of times in the past, but I just needed to say it again!

He played a couple of games, but wasn't ready. He could be a 2nd or 3rd line winger if he develops. He will grow, get stronger, and be better along the boards (which will be his game). He will be a low cycle player, not really east to west, but north and south player. He will play another year in the A, and hopefully play for a spot next year.

EDIT: He played 17 games, which were 13 games too many. I can see 4-5 games, to get a look, get him some experience, but rushed him in the end.

He is listed at 6'2 220 and he played pro hockey all last season in Albany and it was his first year but he had played a couple games up there at the end of the previous season and he had a pretty decent year same for Boucher

Well Salvador is bound to get hurt at some point this year and Harold is terrible. So would definitely like to see Severson up here at some point. If he could force the teams hand and get on the roster right out of camp great. I hope that for as many kids as possible we need to get younger. Finally are on the backend and in net but our fwds have to be the oldest group in the league.

Harrold actually isn't that bad. The problem with him in the lineup in the past has been it usually meant Larsson or Fayne were sitting. Fayne is much better and Larsson is the highest drafted player we've had in the last 20-something years; him sitting in the press box is bound to piss people off.

If Sal does get hurt, I think it's likely we see Helgeson instead of Severson, both because he's a left-handed shot and because Lou and Pete will probably want a more physical presence than Harrold or Severson. Especially since Fayne and Volchenkov are both gone.

As has been discussed multiple times, Salvador is an easy player to move if their hand is forced.

Also, I think it's very generous to project Matteau as a "2nd-3rd line forward" as someone said. His game certainly looks a lot more like "3rd line" to me.

No big deal. Just be weary of over projecting your prospects (Josefson, Tedenby...)

I'm hoping Sal gets dumped at the deadline if NJ isn't contending for a playoff spot.

Although, with Lou, they'd have to be mathematically eliminated because he tends to think every year is the year NJ beats the odds & wins 20 in a row to make the playoffs.

And I honestly can't see how someone would project Matteau as a top 6.
Actually, I can. They've probably been a NJ fan for a long time. In NJ Matteau could very well get top 6 minutes.

Seriously, for a 7th defenseman, he's actually very solid. I'm not saying I'd want him in the lineup every night, but if that were the case, he wouldn't be a 7th defenseman. Heck, there are probably 5 or 6 teams on which he'd be an improvement over their current 3rd pairing.

1. He won't be dumped.
2. We're not bad enough to be eliminated before the deadline short of a rash of injuries and/or the wheels falling off (aka Jagr and Elias finally showing their ages and both falling off of a cliff production-wise). We may be in a similar position as last year but I think we'll be better.
3. It's too early to project how Matteau's career will go. He could be a solid 2nd line power forward (Think a poor-man's Lucic). Or he could stagnate and never be more than a 4th line grinder. The nice thing with him is his size and skill-set makes him practically a lock to at least be an NHL player, it's just a matter of how productive he can be. Last year he started slow but started producing more towards the end of the year, which is probably in part due to him being moved up from the 3rd line, where he was spent the first half of the season playing with Rod Pelley and Tim Sestito.

I hope you're right, but he hasn't been the same since the head injury.

He reminds me of how Colin White was a shadow of himself when he had his eye injury.

Every devils fan would love that. He is not a bad guy, great guy in the locker room. No one roots against him, but he just hasn't played at a consistant high level for NHL standards.
