He is utilized in a shutdown role. Contract is affordable and will still be a RFA at the end of this deal.

For your info: Hayden decided to not to return to Yale. He will be plaung for the IceHogs this season.

Im not so sure that is accurate..on the Hawks website theres an interview with him at the prospects camp and he mentions that the coaching staff gave him a lot of tips and pointers that he can take back with him to Yale...unless I heard it wrong..

So now that the convention is about over it'll be interesting to see how long StanBo waits to pull the trigger on a trade...clock is ticking...

Makarov was incredible at that 2009? camp, as was Aliu. But Hayden is a totally different style player, one that it's hard to see his value in a "rat hockey" setting where pure skill shines... So I'm glad to read he was a star at camp.

Interested to hear from anyone who was at camp about Schmaltz, Olofsson, Iocepelli, Starrett, Hartman. Any thoughts on these guys, or any of the goalies?

I saw the scrimmage game Thursday. Schmatz skates bow-legged like Orr and has deceptive speed. He and Hayden were the only two who really stood out for me. Olofsson looked ok and so did Starrett. Iocepelli was not on the ice nor was Hartman that I could see.
