Rangers will make the playoffs. Then Krieder will just take out every opposition goalie and the Rangers win the Cup. |

I really wish the Pens would have retained him for that price. He could have been that 1W/3W to compliment Dupuis if he still is not up to speed. Plus his 10-20 goals would look good on the 3rd line.
I am still hopping Pens try and grab Penner, Booth, or Mueller on a similar deal. - crebar
A week ago I would have agreed with you but after this development camp I'd rather see the roster spots go to Payerl or Sundquist and Kapanen looks fantastic and if he has a good camp he could be playing with Sid and Kuni. |

About what? What giant deal did they make in free agency this year? Dan Boyle isn't exactly a Doughty and Glass isn't exactly Crosby. They made mid-to-low key acquisitions that help out the team and should keep them on par, but with a much better power play, with last year. |

Except he didn't run Price in the first place. |

Nice depth signing.
It's ironic an Oilers fan as the first post is talking about a ways to go. Wow! |

I dunno know about that. Iggysbf isn't delusional about the Oilers, he knows how far they are from being a top team....or are you suggesting that long time fans the game that cheer for a terrible team should not be permitted to comment? God help us if that means us poor saps have to suffer the arrogance of Hawks, Bruins, Kings and Penguins fans in silence, because those fans are in some giant way more knowledgeable because their teams 'just so happen to to great?
This attitude baffles me. |

At least the Rags weren't stupid enough to sign Pouliot to that ridiculous contract the Oilers shelled out. Not to mention getting out of WAAAAYYYY over paying for Callahan... |

the fact that the hockey world thinks the rangers will suffer greatly from the loss of brian boyle is absolutely preposterous. |

If Tanner Glass, as the 12th forward, is really the Rangers' weakest forward link, I think they're OK up front. Right now, the top six look like some combination of Kreider, Stepan, Zuccarello, Nash, Brassard, and St. Louis. Line 3 looks like Hagelin, JT Miller and Stempniak. Line 4 looks like Glass, D. Moore, and Lombardi. That doesn't look too bad.
The Rangers don't build their team anymore to have great players at every spot in the lineup; they build it to have players that want to and properly fit the roles they are assigned - kind of like how Team Canada builds its Olympic teams. The Rangers aren't on that level but the philosophy worked pretty well this year. |

the fact that the hockey world thinks the rangers will suffer greatly from the loss of brian boyle is absolutely preposterous. - Why So Serious
People had some ridiculous notion that the Rangers were some expansion team flukeing their way through the playoff's, and with all the talk about the Habs getting by the Bruins , and the West being stronger than the East, forgotten was the FACT that the Rangers are a damn fine hockey club. |

That's because for some reason people refuse to admit that the Rangers can have good teams. It's not like they are the Yankees of hockey or anything. I have lived in NJ and currently Philly, and I understand that hate in those spots. I just dont understand the absolute detest for the Rangers from the rest of the country/hockey world. Could be biased but they were an extremely likable team that had a great run. |

I don't get it either, aside from the hate part. They have a great goalie, one of the best Defences....and I think it's safe to say that some key pieces to their forward group probably underachieved more than anything. I'm talking mostly Nash and the injured Stepan. |

I thought it had everything to do with the team coming together after the passing of MSL's mother?...
Until it had everything to do with the rangers injuring other teams' goalies?...
I think it's ridiculous how we try and predict what will happen next season when we are still 2 months away from even training camp.
And the rangers theoretically could play better than they did last year and not make the playoffs or they could play worse and squeeze in depending on how other teams play. They made the playoffs last year by just 6 points after all...
I'm not a hater, I think the rangers are good enough to make the playoffs but then again I thought Ottawa was going to be a top 3 team in the east last year.

Yeah but the rangers got St. Louis at deadline and didn't really give up much. That deal made Tampa ,who was a real contender, get knocked out in the 1st round and nyr, who wasn't much different than other playoff teams, become a team that blew by everyone in the east.

Not like the Isles don't have 2 of the top 5 highest paid buy outs in league history, next offseason Snow is gonna beg for someone to take Kulemin's contract, check out the buyout list, the Rangers aren't the only team buying out players but let's not focus on obsessing about those other teams |
