I really don't think a player's past has any influence on how he plays today. Marty St. Louis was cast aside by the Calgary Flames. Does that mean he's not a potential hall of fame guy today?
Stralman was better away from Staal than with Staal. Staal was better with Stralman than away from Stralman. - Michael_Stuart
Again who was the established one before Stralman arrived? |

AV better keep a case of Ensure on the bench for Boyle and MSL. Both of them have 2 good seasons each left in the tank, maybe 3 tops. They were elite players in the their prime, but both are slipping now. However, I think Rangers fans will be happy with their play for the next couple of seasons.
What do the Rangers have in the prospect pipeline? Because they are not getting high picks - they finish just good enough to make sure they don't get a decent draft pick and I see that trend continuing.

What impact does that have though?
I give John Tortorella far more credit for Stralman's resurgence than Marc Staal, who, as said, made Stralman a worse possession player when playing with him. |

Not a whole lot. Believe THN had them ranked last in Future Watch last year, IIRC. Trading this year's first and next year's first doesn't help that. |

Miller, Lindberg, Fast, Kristo, Haggerty, Duclair, Buchevich with Allen, McIlrath and Skjei on D, not the sexy 10 ten picks but we've gotten to this point without them already, this core is still fairly young |

I think the rangers are us in 2011! We had a great run thought we would be back but picked 10th in the 2012 nhl draft slater koekkoek |

The thing about the Panthers is, when haven't they had a great prospect pool the last decade+. It's time to start winning on the ice. |

THN just takes the draft order and submits the names, Edmonton and the Isles have been on top of that list for a while, doesn't mean anything |

I don't there is enough time apart to make that a fair assumption, they've been paired for a majority of the time, same as Mac- Girardi and Moore-Klein |

Look at his three-year WOWY totals. He makes nearly everyone better, and Staal significantly better. A few players who he makes better (including Staal) actually drag him down.

Even that deal is risky as hell. Dude is nearly 28 and has had 1 good season. |

Yeah. Lots of money for one 40+ point season. His PDO has generally been high over the last handful of years too. |

Maybe on paper but not if you actually watched the games. They played off each other equally well and were just a great pairing with the chemistry they established. You can look at all the advanced stats you want but at the end of the day, they don't actually show how well a player was really playing.
The Rangers weren't willing to pay Stralman more than $4M yet they will likely extend Staal for $5.5M+...I wonder why? |
