There is no reason why the Coyotes do not trade for one of these available players. They have the assets to do it. Show some balls Phoenix!

Your calling a guy who had one good season a superior player.......you know Chris Gratton had a 63 pts season.

Well you can't make an argument by just selecting one anecdotal example.

What you can do is see that Johansen is 21, a huge centre with an unlimited season. There is not a single knowledgeable hockey person alive who would not consider him superior to Dubinsky.

About the same age, weight , position , overall draft pick when he did it....and then he bounced around .

Jeez, lighten up. Whether it was the Sabres, Blue Jackets or Islanders, the point remains the same - he wouldn't have went to Calgary.

Nope Isles weren't last at the time. Sabres, Oilers (at least) were both ahead of them in the waiver order.

Florida, Colorado, TB, Nashville were all at the bottom. NYI made the playoffs so definitely not them. Don't think EDM was any lower than 4 really

You are exemplifying the common theme that teams never improve from within.

Both Hanzel and Boedker are approaching their primes and are due to just get better and better.

Erat can be a very good player.

Domi and Samuelson are two guys worth being excited about.

Sam Gagner was traded for Teddy Purcell, and then cap room. His value is insanely higher than a 6th rounder. He could still be a star player.

If you added say Johansen, then the Coyotes would have a pretty young, high ceiling top 6.

I am not saying they are the new Chicago or anything, but they are so much better than people think.

Yea I don't get how Gagner is worth a 6th rounder now. TB needed to dump salary and PHX took advantage of that. Gagner's definitely not a star, but he's worth more than a late pick

Also, I too am a big Samuelsson fan

The thing about Gagner: he plays hard and has the talent of a star. If he can put it all together and overcome his size, he could be the answer to the trivia question: what is the most lopsided trade of all time (watch the Lightning select the next Datsyk in the 6th with that pick though).

Lets see, used to be all-star goalie on the downswing, one of the best groups of D in hockey, very few high end talented forwards, some great grinders, even some depth.......I am serious, put a top line forward or two on this team, and they can compete with anyone.

That trade makes sense. But I think Sakic will still drag negotiations with ROR until he is signed, and not even entertain trade offers for now.
