I agree with Stastny but you don't think RoR is worth somewhere around $6Mil(don't remember what it was reported he's asking).....similar to what Duchane is making as they have essentially the same points.

The thing I do like about RoR though(and is a gamble by the Avs)is that he's shown consistent improvement every season(points wise).....so I guess what I'm saying is that while it might seem he's asking a lot now, if he continues this upward trend, in another season or two that price tag will look pretty good.

- nikel

It's assumed he's asking for about 6.5m and the avs are closer to the 5.5-6m range.

EDIT: good point on his upward trend. However, he played with Duchene this year which obviously helped his numbers. Duchene is the straw that stirs the drink, not ROR.

It really didn't hurt losing Stastny knowing we could never give him 7m and hope to sign nate to a reasonable contract too. Moral of the story, Mackinnon>Stastny.

MacKinnon will be better than Crosby. He is the next one!

It's early, but I know Mac will AT LEAST be the best player on this team. Sky is the limit for him though.

Yes it's early, but we've only seen a glimpse.

Bang on! There is no rush to trade ROR. When the time is right they should move him for a top D
- Champ

Honestly trade him asap for the best return. If they like it then pull the trigger.

Naw RoR for Josi would be more comparable however Josi has had a boatload of concussions. I personally would aim for a winger.

Kane(ignila 2.0) for ROR we may have to throw in a high draft choice, unless Winnipeg throws the bank at him he won't sign long term, they will have him for 2 years.

Ignila can mentor Kane and get him straight.

I think we need a forward for ROR

I understand everyone's excitement about Kane, but is he really the guy that is going to accept a cheaper contract to stay with the Avs? His PR would suggest not.

If thats what they are offering long term, he would be smart to just accept a 2 year arbitration award, which will probably be around 6. Then he gets to be a UFA and can easily command 7+ on the open market long term

He is locked up for a few years within the salary structure of Duchenes deal

I live here and believe me, his PR is nothing, Winnipeg is just really bored and the media here ask him the same lame questions every time they stick a mic in his face.

You put a kid like that under Roy, playing along side and growing with either Duchene or MacKinnon in the middle and you'll see a new attitude. The Jets are going into the season knowing they'll be last place in the division, how excited is he suppose to be really?

Oh wow I don't think I realized the contract he had...wtf is Winnipeg doing even considering trading him. Whip the kid into shape and give him someone to dish it to him.

This would seem to be a great fit for all parties. The Jets really aren't all that bad either. Playoff team in the East.

Not as smart as you think.
If he takes a 1 or 2 years contract, he is taking a big risk as well. These young players are looking for the security of long term contract. What if within a year or 2, his production goes south or he gets badly injured? This can turn out as a not-so-smart decision for himself.

I'm really curious to see what O'Reilly's camp is asking for. I know a lot of people are saying 6.5M, but I have a feeling that he is asking for a raise from his last contract year, which in his mind is 6.5M. I wouldn't be shocked if he was asking north of 7M.

Most people forget that since he is a RFA he has to get 15% increase on his last contract of $6.5m. Hench why there is a arbitrator now.

So by that math, it puts him at almost 7.5M...

wrong dumbass.. he cant make less than 85% of his last contract (6.5mill x 0.85 = 5.525/yr is the least he can make)

"This would seem to be a great fit for all parties. The Jets really aren't all that bad either. Playoff team in the East."

They play in the West. And would be another division rival to root against to go along with the Blues and Stastny

And i been on the Evander Kane bandwagon for months now.. It just seems like a perfect trade that is a win/win for both parties. Plus how can you NOT like Kane. HE knocked out Cooke as an 18 year old rookie.

Winnipeg wants a front line center, the Avs will need to replace ROR offensive production on the top line. Kane being 22 years old and signed for 4 more years at a steal rate of 5.25 million / year is great.

O'REilly can go be the man in Winnipeg and make all his money and not win a thing.

As for someone that said we would have to throw something else in the deal to make it work. I dont think so. centers are more hard to find than wingers. So i would expect that Joe and Company would demand a pick/player/prospect. Personally i wouldnt mind if we threw in our 1st rd pick and they gave us Trouba along with Kane.

Kane / Duchene / Iginla (Dutchy has his protection on his line)
Landeskog / MacKinnon / Tanguay (when tanguay played last year we were 15-1)
McGinn / Mitchell / Briere (nice scoring 3rd line here)
Bordeleau / Talbot / McLeod (nice checking line here)

D1 - Stuart / E Johnson
D2 - Trouba / Barrie
D3 - Hejda / Holden

Then with 23 million in caproom the following year we can work on a new deal for Eric Johnson and MacKinnon and keep building up that defense.

Agree with plenty of this but you don't just throw Trouba into the mix, that kid is a rising star in Winnipeg. Let's just hope the Avs and Jets can get some sort of ROR and Kane swap going. Somehow, someway, man would that add another level of excitement to the division!
