Meh, in a cap-free world I could see him for Drouin. TB could really use his 20+ minutes a night on the back end.

By back end do you mean 3rd pairing

I'm just saying the East is pretty wide open. Drouin is a great prospect but he's undersized and I think P9 would help that team more for the next couple of years. If Stamkos ever decides to go UFA they really need to win now.

Not cap-free though. Plus the length of his contract is brutal. Those are horrible trades for TB.

TB's D is their weak link, adding him they'd become pretty solid.

For Hedman for sure, but Augello did also mention he wouldn't be the only piece moved and also said it wasn't gonna happen. It was more of his take on the Ek blog.

They did add Garrison and Stralman.... that has to help a bit.

Even for Drouin + Brewer, TB fans would be pissed.

OK, what if it was Phaneuf + for Drouin and Brewer? I think there's a workable deal in there.

Hedman is the non-starter.

Depends on the "+" for sure, if it's some random overrated prospect(fans of teams with weak prospect pools overrated mediocre prospects) then no. Keep in mind that TB is already up against the cap.

That plus better be big!! Look at what the projected offers were for the top picks in this years draft. Phaneuf and a first might not do it with that Too long and too large contract

Exactly, some trades carry a further element to them then just being a purely hockey transaction. I think that Tampa has a great opportunity to get fans excited about having such a high-end prospect (Phaneuf is not going to do that, even though, on a strictly hockey level, he could be an ok addition to the D - but he just doesn't have that 'sexy' factor, the way Drouin does. I'm sure having Drouin will equate to a lot more seats being filled and a higher interest level than normal. Not only that, but you aren't going to alienate the fan base by trading a potential star.

And of course congrats/condolences.

Hope the Ducati is ok?

This is the 'circle of life' day on HB. Some folks sharing stories of their loses and others the joy & fear of adding to the family.

I hope everyone on here stays good to themselves and their loved ones. There's a lot of fun, hilarious, opinionated , smart & sarcastic folks in here who share a common passion.

Time to start prepping dinner for Mrs. Marwood and chill the Gerwurztraminer.

I have to say that his contract looks a whole lot better since the Stralman and other deals were handed out this summer. In a couple of years, the 7 million AAV won't look bad at all IMO.

In those 2 yrs his foot speed will drop off even more, Dion will retire a Leaf, he is untradeable.

You now I'm a possession/advanced stats guy, especially when valuing defensemen, so to me has has minimal value with that contract.
