What is his ceiling? 2C on a weak team or 3C on a good one? - Jeropotato
His ceiling....2C on an average team. He played quite well as the second line center in the playoffs when Malkin went up on Sid's line. He's still young and has some upside. So his ceiling is fairly high, I just think the likelihood he reaches that ceiling is low.
And at this moment, he isn't worth $4M. |

Might not be a deal to be had. Pens are looking for players to help now I don't think Arcobello solves any issues for us. I didn't realize Hall finished like 6th in scoring this year while missing some time. Pretty impressive! - dbell646
Oh well, you must have bought in to the notion that all of our 1st rounders are busts. Seems to be a league wide misconception. |

That's my point actually, he played hard in the playoffs and was hailed as being this great playoff performer; when in all actuality he was just playing hockey how hockey players should play hockey. He wasn't world beating but he was good, that's what makes me so insanely mad. That kind of crap rubs off on people and it shows. - nbartley9
So to follow up on this... He played to his potential in the playoffs, and I believe he was climbing to that level after the trade deadline.
So if he plays this season the way he finished last year, will you still hate him? Not trying to start anything, once again, curious.... and also very bored since work is slow. |

It's kind of funny...the talk about Sutter...
He's (only) 25...which means he CAN and probably will get better.
He had 7 points in the playoffs (5 goals) and was ...+7
I know he didn't save us from losing to the Rangers...but you guys make it sound like he's the worst player on the team. Kind of harsh and maybe a little less objective than you should be...don't you think? |

No I actually have a man crush on Eberle. Hall always impresses me I just didn't realize he was at that point already. Good for him and your franchise |

Yes - nbartley9
Haha, I'm not saying your hatred is ungrounded Bartley...but it's a little extreme. If he plays a full year like he did in the playoffs you would still hate him? Come on now. Maybe he gets overpaid in the coming days which is certainly a legitimate reason to complain.
On a team that had Tanner Glass, Tayor Pyatt, and Craig Adams last year...I chose to direct my hatred to more appropriate places. |

I've heard mixed things regarding EDM. Do you guys need good young D prospects? I'm wondering if Sutter and a good D prospect would be enough to get Perron. Your thoughts? |

I'm with Guile on the boredom factor. I haven't been hearing much regarding Sundqvist. Is he NHL ready?
I think Uher could be on the 4th line right now.
Kuhnhackl officially considered a bust yet? |

So let me ask a question. Do any of you think there is a real possibility that Sutter gets dealt? I mean Rutherford loves the guy and was hesitant to include him in a deal for Jordan Staal. |

If he doesn't take below $3.5M, and his trade value is good enough, then yes. I just can't get a gauge on his value. |

I don't see any reason why it would be high. Yes he had a descent showing in the playoffs but prior to that he has been forgettable on the Pens IMO. I think he is more capable then what he has shown. We aren't sniffing a top 6 winger with Sutter as the foundation of a package. Just my thoughts on it. Also he had 7 pts in 13 playoff games it's respectable for 2nd line minutes but lets not pretend he walked on water |

But a team like MIN might make use of him and a young D. They are loaded with forward prospects. Maybe they'd take the win-now approach and give up one of their many young wingers.
They make pretty good trade partners as I could see a Martin deal with MIN as well. I dunno, I could be wrong. |

He is an average player who doesn't warrant a salary North of three. His holding out right now, is likely the thorn in everyones side. Hell, he wouldn't be missed one iota with what Rutherford brought in. |

See I don't agree with that, Good ole JR had all the leverage in that trade; I think he 100% wanted to unload Sutter; and that's why he is not already re-signed. |

You are. Minny and Martin fit better than Minnie and Mickey. Sutter doesn't fit with them and Sutter is asking for above average pay for average work. |

They do in a sense. But with their young forward depth do you see them wanting to give up one of those young guys for Sutter? I think they have a descent prospect pool for dmen as well. Martin might make sense and he's someone that might be willing to deal a young forward for. |

He's a RFA...I hardly call what he is doing right now...holding out. Holding out would be if he was supposed to be somewhere and wasn't because of his contract or lack thereof.
Jordan Staal should not be making 6M a year...
Letang Should not be making 7+M a year...
Toews and Kane...same...right???
I guess it's up to Rutherford to decide if he'd be missed or not. |

Reportedly he tried to sign him long term back then prior to that trade presenting itself. And reportedly he's trying to do so now. |

If engelland could get it, despres could double that - drummer829
I've given up on Despres. Everyone always said Bylsma just rewarded hard work. Is there any reason that Despres shouldn't be working as hard as Engelland? In fact after Despres watched a guy like Engelland who played a million minor league games and eventually become a full time NHL player it should have been a wake up call, and the kids way more talented to boot.
I also heard Payerl was a beast in the battle drills at camp. I would like too see him be the reason why Megna never plays an NHL game this year.
