In the interview I saw with him, he said he would take what he got out of this back to Yale for his soph season.

Don't think he played C as he was on a line with Schmaltz and Anthony Louis. Think Stan said all 3 are going to lake placid for try outs for World Jrs. He made it sound like the team should keep the 3 of them together.

Thanks... Hawks player info had him as a C. Still hes a big kid with scoring touch. Good to see that type of player in the system.

from what I read and heard, seems like John Hayden was dominate, I know in the one scrimmage, he had two fights and two goals.

Think they broke the pros away from the rest of the guys though, so not sure he scrimmaged against the likes of TT, McNeill, Danualt, Hartman, etc.

He can play C, they just have a lot of them at the prospects camp so they have to play some out of position. Bowman even mentioned it when asked about playing Teuvo at wing, that it was just because of how many C's there are and specific combos of players.

Other than potentially Teuvo, are there potentially any other top-6 potential centers in the mix?

Hey, I know a lot of people have been asking/interested in what is going on. We had our son on Thursday (at 33 weeks) He ids doing great right now, born at 5 lbs even, which its pretty good for how early he is. His back is looking great from the earlier surgery. Well be in the NICU for a while, but he is breathing on his own without any help so they are very happy with that.

Thanks again to everyone for their thoughts/prayers/well wishes. It has been very appreciated.

He scrimmaged against all the ELC guys on Friday, and the line of Hayden, Schmaltz, and Louis still looked dominant.

First the Ranger and almost all teams are gonna try to sign him, because of the size (this is a big man that moves well).
I am not sure if he falls through the exact same crack as Anaheim/Edmonton defender Justin Schultz officially "de-registered" from the University of Wisconsin triggering a process that made him an unrestricted free agent (UFA). According to league rules, from the time Anaheim was given notice of the de-registration from school, they had a 30-day exclusive window to try to sign him or trade him. On June 30, 2012, Schultz agreed to a two year entry-level contract at the max amount of $925,000 BUT he pocketed a handsome 2,850,000 bonus.

I am not sure if Hayes is able through freeing his slavery from the hawks able to do the same....but
if he is a big pockets team in a big media may be more than willing to promise the bonus and if they are in need even promise the bottom six spot, up until he plays himself OFF the roster to the farm.

The interesting thing is IF the Hawks really thought Hayes could step in, they could fit the max cap hit but those average annual salary including bonus make it a signing that has you let him start out in Rockford until you have a true fit.

So yes...Rangers COULD go out and spend and promise a roster, but they have their own Cap problems.

I wish I had a grip on exactly what Hayes might get elsewhere he can't get from the hawks except for an earlier chance to get a reality check.

He is very fluid and does make contact, but maybe I didn't see that games where he was an angry young forward.

Personally I resigned myself that he is in want of filling needs my team camp and am done thinking about him, and I wish him well, nah...I don't.

Yeah Hayden is a right wing. Just watch and footage with the USA developmental team and you see he hasn't played at the pivot for a long while.

He played centre when he was surround by smaller lesser lights. He doesn't have the foot speed form the get go to be an NHL centre.

He's a great kid because has always been a physical player, knows his role. He has worked on the boots and will skate well enough...

Hey congrats on the l'il bluenote, Carcus!

I am more than curious about just what the poster Josh Gold wrote and what Kevin Hayes wrote....

http://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/539898

Are these words ( Hayes' caption reads:

Been working on my Call of Duty skills. #weouthere

The baby seems to enjoy being used as an imaginary firearm. Thankfully, no live "ammunition" was fired.

How will the Blackhawks counter? Kittens? Puppies
? )

an actual Kevin Hayes tweet?

So this is about more money from the Hawks in order to have a longer developmental road to the NHL?

i am gonna start tweeting him to sign with the hawks....

All the best to you and yours. I have three of my own (17, 14, 10), and I truly sympathize with what you have gone through. however, I am quite sure you just got the hardest thing out of the way early. Everything (well, most things) from here will be gravy, and believe me, it will all be worth it in the end. Keep everyone close together and take help when it is offered. You have already earned your stripes, and this will be a story you can share with him years from now to explain why he is such a tough, stubborn fella.

Was thinking about the arguments regarding trading Bickell. I keep reading "no one brings his size and skillset that is on the roster". Same was said about Big Buff. Hawks traded him and a couple of years later they won another cup. Most nights Bicks is invisible and eating 4 mil of cap space. Like Buff I think he can go and the Hawks will be fine. At least Sharp contributes year round

I will step off my soapbox now

The Bickell contract is an albatross. Playoff performance or not, hes simply not worth that contract.

If he's here this year - like if Versteeg is here this year - and my guess is both will be - let's see what he can do coming into camp without leg problems and (hopefully) after a nice long summer of getting in good shape before camp starts.

If they both can get off to good starts, they can both be effective contributors.
