Ok - so the new lineup is something like:
Smith-Ribeiro-Neal
Wilson-Jokinen-Jarnkrok
Cullen-Roy-Stalberg
Forsberg-Gaustad-Nystrom
Weber-Josi
Jones-Volchenkov
Ellis-Eckholm
Reserve:
Clune, Borque, Fisher(IR), Bartley
- holycow_75
I would flip Cullen and Forsberg. Cullen Gaustad and Nystrom would be a good grinder-type line. Forsberg, Roy, and Stalberg would be a speedy line that could produce. Putting Forsberg with Gaustad gives him no shot at being the type of player he needs to become. |

Congrats, Preds fans, on getting Roy.
You are now the proud owner of one-half of the "Suck Sisters".
Ask Sabres89 if you need more info.
Enjoy. |

For his price tag you can cry and talk him down all you want. But great price for what theyll get. |

Who's crying?
Guy spent 10 years in Buffalo, had a couple good seasons, and much like his fellow "sister", left us all wanting so much more than he gave.
Glad he's someone else's problem now. |

"his influence in the locker room is above question"
I found this hilarious...
Edit: Unless he meant bad influence... Then it is correct. |

Nice pickup of Ribeiro, exactly the type of player you need with Neal. |

Ribs was run out of Montreal, fan favorite in Dallas (magician when he was on), did well in Washington, and now run out of Phoenix. I'd guess Phoenix humbled him again. I don't remember him and Neal doing much together I think Neal had a lot of success with Richards. Still probably the right setup guy, Ribs will look to pass, frustratingly at times.
No comment on Roy.
Still a couple of decent late signings with no risk, good luck to you guys. With the defence you have I'd imagine your a solid club. |

I'm not saying that Lecavalier is the answer, but Jokinen/Roy/Ribiero is definitely not the answer, either. |

You are correct, none of the 4 is the answer! But after this year the Preds wash their hands of 4.5 million dollars for 3 players and the flyers still on the hook for 3 more years. Smart money says Preds net more points per dollar this year. |

I think those lines look about right. I think this team will surprise a lot of people. I actually think across the board we are better than Lavi's cup team and the Flyers finals team. His system makes offensive players better and he has never had Dmen this good nor an elite goalie. I am really excited. - Freeze33
Seriously? Which of those players is as good as Carter-Richards-Giroux? 2010 Briere?JVR? Keep dreaming. How about finishing top 3 in the toughest division in hockey before anointing them surprise playoff dynamos. |

Maybe if this was 2010, Roy, Ribeiro and Jokinen are not what they used to be. I thin the Preds will be better than most expect they will, but to say that this is better than that Flyers team is (frank)ing hilarious. |

It's as if Polie is throwing things at the wall and hoping for them to stick. As far as VL vs the three centers signed it is very clear that the Preds have done a good job. If those three give less the Vinny I will eat my socks, literally. |

Poile's moves were perfect. We're rebuilding, and these moves give our youngsters more time to develop while also making this team much more competitive than it's been since the Phoenix series three seasons ago. There's really no downside to this.
If Jokinen, Roy and Ribiero produce, and they have a ton of incentive to do so due to the one year term on their contracts, then this is going to be a really fun season.
If they don't then the kids get an opportunity to come up to the big club, and we explore trade options.
As one of my friends put it, for $5.5mm you can get Jokinen, Roy, Ribiero and Volchenkov or you can get Bolland. Very good off-season for David Poile.

Good point. This is far superior to trading for Lecavalier, too. If the Preds flame out, the young kids get experience and Poile has some vets to use as bargaining chips at the trade deadline. Plus, if the team sucks, it has a real shot at landing McDavid or Eichel in the draft. Then, the Preds would be pretty scary for several years to come.
If this year's team overachieves - the Preds still have $10Million under the cap (assuming they re-sign Ellis at around $1.5M) to play with at the trade deadline.
Either way this may be one of Poile's best offseasons. |

At least we are not still stockpiling defensemen. It looks like we are going to throw it all against the wall and see what sticks. At least, it is for only one year. Either DP has changed his stripes or Coach has a lot of influence. We'll see. |

Yep. Good moves which can only help and not hurt for the money. Should be an interesting season to see how Coach puts this all together. Just as interesting to see how Philly now gets under the cap now. (Ha) |
