No one from that draft has had two good pro years yet. I think it's way too early to tell who should have gone where. But based on what the Oil need, the player we could have used from that draft the most is Trouba, as of right now.

Dunno, Ryan Murray is looking like a pretty sure bet as far as dman goes as well...

Ryan murray missed his entire rookie year. And was fairly strong in a mostly sheltered role last year. He'dve been eaten up when thrown to the wolves if put on our ugly defence last year.

The only guy thats really been a true step ahead of yaks to this point is trouba. Every single other player from that class has had some struggles or question marks.

And at the end of the day is this surprising? Theyre barely 20, and haven played 2 full nhl seasons yet!
Yaks is a bust. Trade him.

And as I say, no player from the draft class has been consistently good for two pro seasons post-draft.

In fact, most of the prospects have had one good year and one sort of troubling year.

Bollig is a POS. You got rid of Cammi and replaced him with another dbag.

Going to be fun watching our speed make a mockery of Englland.

As of right now, I think Trouba would be the top pick. But nobody had him going first overall... I was just looking at guys who could have reasonably been top picks, based on where they were ranked.

I think Yak's rookie season needs to be taken with a grain of salt, because it was in the shortened season. Lots of AHLers and youngsters stood out that season because they were a step ahead of most NHL regulars who either sat out and did nothing, or half-assed it somewhere in Europe.

I think this season's 50 point Kadri is closer to the player he is right now than the shortened season's PPG Kadri, for example.

For sure. You don't want to be Philly, trading JVR for Schenn.

I don't think Yak should have gone first overall... and if Galchenyuk and Rielly had been healthy, I think there might have been more of a discussion about it, but I don't think he's going to be a bust.

And for the people saying Eakins hates him because of his style... keep in mind that the guy worked with Kadri.

Nobody in that draft has proven squat to suggest they should have gone ahead of Yak.

Ya... Your speed has done a ton for you guys over the years. Only thing that's going to be mocked is the lifeless corpse of whichever kid tries to get past Engelland.

Based on what? Other than your opinion? Better +/-? The Habs are clearly a better team.

Playing sheltered minutes on a deeper team. And has had his own health problems.

Jury still out IMO.

Mostly my opinion, but based on watching both play and what I've read on both, Galchenyuk was a big part of Motreals success last season, and seems to be equally effective in all three phases of the game where Yakupov seems to do a lot of floating and waiting for the offensive portion of the game to get started and that's when he starts to jump in.

I just think Galchenyuk looks to be the more complete player at this point. Not saying I'm right, just my opinion.

This is what most oiler fans said about the flames last year too. Ive got no real faith a team with a center depth of nuge, arco, draisaitl, gordon is gonna help us be unequivocally better than anyone

Yak has his warts, but 115 games is far too early to pass judgement on either...and if AG were picked 1st there would be way more scrutiny on him.

Ummmm why?
Cause of his 0.05 better ppg thus far in two seasons? Or his injury plagued second season? Or yaks leading rooks in goals and points their first year?

No he wont....Nurse can't play in the AHL this year so there is little chance they will see eachother outside of pre-season....on second thought...that's more than enough time to resort Johnny Hockey to a mere sh!t stain on the end boards.
