So...if Hall was on your roster and you had the opportunity to trade straight up for Zetterberg you would do that deal? - Jeropotato
One game to win it all is take zetterberg ....hall at 22 or zetterberg at 22 I'd take zetterberg .... Right now today for the next ten years hall |

Would you???????
Or is this some sort of trick question - The-O-G
(frank) ya I would. In a heart beat. If the elite label is in question than that question would include debate. If Hall and Stamkos are both elite why bother trading one for the other? |

9 times outta ten yes. But id like to find out stamkos posession stats. (too lazy) does he drive the play like hall does, or is he more of a lethal one time while st. Louis was the possession/set up guy - hugefemale dog77

I wish! I had the pleasure of comparing the demographics between a country in the G8 and a country in central Africa, and relating those demographics to environmental consequences.
....so ya, pretty exciting night for me |

Im not a huge advanced stats guy generally speaking. Im ok with the eye test.
But in a basement team where we desperately need guys who drive the play and maintain possession. Its a vital number |

I wouldn't say at each position. A center can easily go to the wing and a left wing can easily go to a right wing. However, a center is more valuable to a team than a winger. More defensive responsibilities is the big thing and very rarely a winger moves to play center. Therefor they have more of an impact on the team.
I would put hall in the top 20 forwards in the NHL. Maybe the top 15. Not the top 9. Maybe next year. Maybe in two years. or Maybe never. who knows. Right now he is not in the top 9.
(not that he is elite) But Cammi is listed as a center but plays left wing. - tmurph
Some centers do, but I'm not going to count guys who ONLY EVER play centre as potential wingers. Guys like O'Reilly, you can praise them for their versatility.
I see this mostly as a difference of scope though. I'd put more than 9 forwards in the elite category. |

Ya but Hall has brought the oilers to greatness. Done so much for that Team. Since making the team they finished 7th! oh wait. That was their lowest draft pick.
Oh the poopty teams from when Hall was drafted.
Toronto - Made the Playoffs
Florida - Still suck
Columbus - Made the Playoffs
NYI - Made the playoffs
Tampa - Made the PLayoffs
Carolina - I actually don't know off the top of my head.
So all these teams that were poopty since 2010 have made strides with the exception of florida.
I would put the Avs in the same boat as the oilers but look at what they have done with there team. That is how you do a rebuild. - tmurph
You start by slagging Hall's ability to effect change on the team, and then you end by slagging the Oilers rebuild. Do you see a problem here? |

I'm just giving you a hard time. Every team loves their players. Which they should. I actually am tired of the oilers losing and want them to get better. But just to the point where they make the playoffs and get knocked out first round.
I am totally on the bandwagon for watching the canucks fall apart right now.
I wish Hall and Eberle played for the flames. Maybe the Flames and Oilers should combine teams. Call them the Alberta Combustion. Please don't. I was joking.

No natural gas furnace?
Edit: My bad. Just saw you were from NS. You should convert to NG for heating. Much better. - tmurph
Yeah we're thinking about it. There's not even pipelines on our street yet. Halifax is still very much an Oil city |

I'd definitely love to go see them, but it's still a 9-10 hour drive so it's not like they're easy to get to either. I feel like they'd be my Eastern conference team, with the Oil still being my fav team |

But the way the NHL is structuring themselves it is looking like a Seattle Team and a Las Vegas team.
Yes I said Las Vegas team. The NHL want to be the first to penetrate that market. And as a person that goes to Vegas at least twice a year I will be super pumped. MGM grand is building a hockey rink that will fit 19,000 people FYI. |

I think Seattle is a great market to explore. I'd look at a place Milwaukee too, which has an existing sports/hockey culture (Wisconsin has hosted the frozen four many times), and would be economical from a travel perspective.
It'd be pretty poopty to play on that Vegas team though. Half of the fans on any given night would be tourists cheering for the opposite team. |

However, those tuesday night games would be a blast. The would also have the best record in the NHL because all the visiting teams would be so distracted with partying.
I never thought of Milwaukee. Wiki says the urban pop is 1,308,913 people so it has the size. It may however cut into the hawks TV market. Therefore it will not happen.
Even if the NHL wanted another team in southern ontario the center of the universe wouldn't allow it. Seatle doesn't belong in any TV market and neither does Vegas. Quebec is the one place in Canada we might see a team. It would likely be a relocation though from a place like Florida or Dallas. |

PS this is why Flames vs any canadian team games are so much fun. There are fans from both sides which makes the atmosphere way better. Just an opinion though. |

Chris Butler signed a two way one year deal with the Blues. I'm surprised he never got offered a one way deal after playing a full 82 game season and finishing second in blocked shots. Although he could have but chose his home town to be with his new family. |

You know why he blocked so many shots? The puck was always in his end of the ice. |

And he was always out of position which lead to him throwing himself infront of shots....same as Smid always does.... |

I am by no means going to miss him but I still thought he'd be a good bottom pairing guy for a team with an established D core |

He is a number 7 dman at best on every team but the flames. Wotherspoons development has basically shown that there is no place on the team for Butler. And almost every team has a dman ready to make the jump to the NHL.
People like Butler are crutial to the RB. I think the flames have the worst third pairing right now with Eggplant and Smid. However if we play them 20 minutes a game thats how you get the rebuild.
Just focus on getting the rebound (vs blocking shots and preventing shots) so the goalies save% looks better and then we will have tradable assets in our goalies! |
