Well the rest of them must all be retards or something.....

He might get the most points...but I would rather have Jamie Benn on my team, also, Patrick Sharp.

The point in all this is that making or playing in the Olympics is not indicative of who is or isn't the best player. Someone used the logic that Hall wasn't the best LW in the game because he wasn't on team canada.
Giroux>Carter
Hall>Kunitz, Nash

- Jeropotato

I get what your trying to say but one statistical season doesn't make you the best ... Hall is probably one of the most skilled but he has a lot of work to do yet

Well they weren't going to play any dman 25 minutes in the olympics, not even pietrangelo or Doughty, so I'm more talking about the 16-18 minutes Bouwmeester got or even the 9-12 minutes Hamhuis got that Subban could easily have covered, and probably done better.

Is your contention that the players selected are smarter without the puck and thus better players than the players not selected??

- Morris

I'm saying overall as a player ...guys selected were more complete players and not just guys who had the most points ..... And I'll take j bo on the ice over subban easily unless I'm down a couple goals

I mean there is something to be said for that, it's not everything, but it's a huge factor. Being a smart player involves the ability to be able to adapt your game to different situations with different line-mates on a completely different team. Smart players have this ability. Yea, gotta say, Hall's intelligence at times borderlines Phaneuf levels.

I am not saying that Hall is a bad player. He is just not elite yet. Iggy was elite for about 4-5 years and maybe hall will get to that stage.

I do love the awards but the best way to judge who is elite is to look at who consistently gets on the all star teams.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_All-Star_Team

Iginla made 4 NHL all star team.

And if we go back to my list

Crosby - 4
Toews - 1
Tavares - 0
Burgeron - 0
Ovechkin - 8
Malkin - 3
Stamkos - 2
Koptiar - 0
Kane - 1

Weber - 3
Keith - 2
Subban - 1
Karlson - 1
Suter - 1
Chara (might leave the list this year) - 3

So based on this I will change my list:

Tavares for Danielle Sedin
Burgeron for Getzlaf
Kopitar for Perry

I was maybe getting ahead of myself with Tavares as he is the youngest person on this list. Sedin will drop off this year and be replaced. Getzlaf and Perry were on the bubble to begin with but thought I would add them.

I said the best at what you do not the best at your position. And obviously hockey Canada would pick Duchene to play left wing versus Hall playing left wing.

PS everyone knows that Crosby is the better hockey player versus ovechkin. However, if both there careers ended today then Ovechkin would of had the way better career.

One of the dumbest contentions ive ever read. There are so many holes in your argument, im not sure where to begin.

Hall not elite?

Back to back top ten in scoring. 3rd in ppg behind only Crosby and getzlaf.
All by the age of 22.

I have a hard time even considering bothering having a discussion with someone who cant clearly see how elite hall is. If hes not already the best left winger in the world, hes top couple and will most likely be for many years along with benn.

And ovie better career than Crosby?!!??wtf

Are you high this morning? How do you figure Ovi would have had the better career over Crosby if their careers ended today. 1st and foremost, Crosby has a cup.

Again...you just go back to points...that's not what it's all about. I'd rather have Henrik Zetterberg too.

And the fact that he is 22 means nothing. He's either elite or he's not. Same with the fact that he's the apparently the best LW in the game. There's still a TON of players that Mac T would deal in a heartbeat for Hall, thus making him not elite IMO.

Crosby avg's more points per game too. Has been to the finals twice. Won a cup. 2 gold's etc. etc. etc. This isn't even an argument is it?

So...if Hall was on your roster and you had the opportunity to trade straight up for Zetterberg you would do that deal?

Did mact tell you this?
Your conjecture doesnt actually count as a solid retort.

Id say there's a very small group of players hed trade hall for. Very small.

And yes, im sure theres LOTS of players YOU'D rather have.

Well it depends on the situation....am I trying to win the cup? Am I the Oilers currently? Am I compiling a team for one year? One game?

Age is obviously the biggest factor. For the next 3-4 years I would rather have Zetterberg. But I understand why the Oilers wouldn't do the deal straight up.

I said that crosby is a better player than Ovi for sure.

I was thinking more from a resume standpoint.

3 hart trophys versus 2
8 All star teams versus 4
Calder Trophy
Equal for Lester B. Pearson Award/Ted Lindsay Award
Points are about the same
422 goals versus 274 goals

The stanely cup is the big thing missing on Ovi's resume which is a team success thing.

I would 100% have Sid on my team before Ovi.

As for Hall. If you have one season to play would you pick Hall over any of the players I listed?

I would say if it was a straight up trade with equal contracts that expire at the end of the season (with no change of resigning) I would trade for Datsuyk.

As an elite player status you can not consider contracts or age.

Hall could be on his way to becoming elite. but isn't there yet.

If you were edmonton would you trade Hall for Tavares? Close in age. Similar contracts, etc etc. I certainly would.

If it was in order you would just need to flip this list around.

But for your 1-25 I would agree with any of these cept for Benn and JG. I love them both but I like Hall more. But I would put Seguin on there. Hall might be the better player but Seguin plays the more important position which impacts the team more.
