I agree.. It's just like the whole why is grabner not a top six forward. It's as much if not more of a grabs problem than it os a coaching problem - Dan Petriw

Clutterbuck has scored double digit goals in just about every year he played. Martin has not reached double digits once. Pretty sure Clutterbuck was tied or near the top for short handed goals this year as well. He is a better skater, just as good a checker, better offense player etc etc. Again I love Martin but Clutterbuck is all around the better player - Vukota
I know. I liked him when he was in minny and im pretty sure you and I discussed the idea of him some how coming to us a few times before that trade even happened. Was happy to have him even though ill contend the trade was lopsided. With that said he wasnt the same player I saw (albeit not consistently) in minnesota. |

I dont agree. Guy is under utilized. Im not saying hes a top six necessarily especially with our new found depth up front but he can be used more effectively imo. |

I think Grabs is a great 3rd line forward. He'll be playing with guys that can help him provide some offense, but he's defensively competent to the point where he can play a valuable defensive role also. |

I agree but I thought he was much better in the 2nd half. I'll give him a pass he missed most of camp and the beginning of the year with an injury. |

Two way deal for Donovan is good. He's going to need to be lights out to make the NHL team this season. I think he's ticketed for Bridgeport if he's not dealt somewhere else.
CDH: Lots of potential, could see a 3-4 year deal paying for "potential" and I'd be fine with it. I think he's only going to get better. Cizikas took a pretty significant step back last year. He'd be lucky to get more than the standard raise from a qualifying offer. there's a few guys on this team that need to go back and watch some tape from the shortended '12-'13 season to remind them how they played when they were playing effectively ("cough" Cizikas "cough" Matt Martin, "cough" Travis Hamonic) |

I like Grabs but I think he will be the one moved for help on the backline. He has the most value outside of Nielsen. I hope its Bailey but they won't get any real help for just him |

I think we will see Martin's departure in the not-too-distant future and you will see stupid fans cry about it and say things like "we need his grit to protect JT and win games". - eichiefs9
I don't want Martin to get moved, if the MM from the '12-'13 season shows up. Matty Marts was a real solid contributor for a 4th line guy during the shortened season. |

I think we'll live without him. I'd prefer not to, but...defense first. |

I don't want him to get the boot..I just don't think it will affect the team particularly significantly if he does. |

I've felt since the trade for Clutterbuck that it's a bit redundant having both. Not sure how badly they need two players hanging around the offensive zone well after the puck's cleared to throw a check that you can hear but never see. I'd consider moving whoever has more value out of the two. - UIF
I'd move Clutterbuck in a heartbeat. He was waaaaaaaayyy overblown prior to and just after the Nino trade. What a rip-off. He gets $10M for 4 years to do absolutely s**t. Martin does what Clutterbuck does at 60 cents on the dollar. |

You're right. It won't make a significant impact if he's dealt. I'm just partial to guys like Martin: home-grown, physical guys who play tough. |

Totally agree. I'd much prefer to keep him around. Homegrown guys always get preference, in my book. I'd rather see him get Islanders paychecks then (insert interchangeable goon here). |

As far as Kabanov...we got our "reach for the guy with off-ice issues"-bust out of the way with him. So Ho Sang is going to be awesome |

The only player to avg less ice time a game as a regular was Colin McDonald. So I don't understand how you can say he was overused. - Vukota
he could still be overused even if he was last on the team in TOI |

Clutterbuck does put up more points but exactly how many were empty net goals? I remember him having quite a few of those - Cptmjl

for example if matt martin averaged 12:00 on the team and everyone else averaged more time (which is essentially true), its still possible that martin was overused...instead of averaging 12 minutes, maybe he should have averaged 10 a game. |

Gotcha but I would say Cizikas playing 12 minutes a game as a fourth line center is not being overused |

i agree, especially if MG decides he wants to play with the physical edge that he played against the pens in the playoffs. a third line of:
nelson/lee- neilsen - grabner is very VERY solid but offensively and defensively. |
