in an effort to re-establish my reign as King Antogonist, and i didnt even need google to help me with this one, the first time the word "fleeced" was brought into play was with the comment (which is irrelevant to the topic but couldnt leave it out for im sure it would have been used against me)

However, as you point out, the topic was about campoli for dehaan. with that in mind, the next time the word "fleeced" was used in the correct context of this discussion was when someone said

thats a fact, anyone can check that.

what also is a fact is that the poster of both of those comments was KindlyRick AKA the original poster of someone saying that the islanders fleeced ottawa. so if your issue is, as you indicate in the bold, with the original post that the isles "fleeced" the senators, then i believe i can speak for everyone and especially vukota and xxnyixx, and say that we agree, we too have an issue with the original post.

If he does a complete job this offseason I'll give you credit(actually I'll give Snow credit last time i checked he was the GM). Figured you might be right once after five years of saying the same thing

when there is a beautiful 6 bedroom, 4 bath house with a a huge chandelier hanging over a 16 person table in dining room, and a full court basketball court along side a gorgeous pool with a waterfall in the backyard, all situated on a perfectly manicured piece of land, rarely do people discuss the strength of the foundation thats supporting the house

So far it's like the Vanek trade just a little better bcs of Halak and Johnson. I thought the Vanek trade was great just an incomplete job. I feel the same way about this offseason thus far. It's been good but he's got to add at the very least a top 4. I know you feel this team is a playoff team without that addition. I don't agree even with halak.
I still believe he doesn't take a chance with our defense and gets one via trade before the season starts.

I do think this team can be a playoff team without any more additions... but I do not think he is done & will add someone on the D.

I did not like the Vanak trade at the time, but i understood it. I still feel that if we were going to trade MM it should have been for D help or a goalie, the two items we really needed. I also believe that we over paid for Vanak, the first rounder should have been conditional on his resigning.

Tough to say. The Isles were 14 points out of a playoff spot last year. It's possible the new signings will be enough to get 7 or 8 more wins, but I wouldn't bet on it. I'd be more optimistic if they had a different coach. Not that it matters at this point. As you said, Snow is probably not done. We'll have to see what the roster looks like in October.

but in addition to the signings over the offseason there are other reasons to believe the team will be better

1) amac is gone
2) guys like nelson, lee, CDH, hamonic, church, mayfield, reinhart etc will be a year older

i think those 2 alone are worth a few more points as well...

The goal should be winning the Stanley cup or at least seriously competing for it. Wouldn't you agree? As you and many others have said, lets see what Snow starts the season with, but I don't see them even making the playoffs with this defense.

I agree with you. I'd like to see Snow add someone who can score from the point. It's funny with all the talk on how hard it is to acquire a top 4 dman, it makes me think ; Why did the isles get rid of James Wisniewski? Seems like he was the perfect fit for this team...

I think one of the major problems with the isles is the coaching. Every year that Jack Capuano has been the coach the isles have had a losing record at home. The reason home ice is an advantage is because the coach get the last line change to match up. Jack Capuano has failed miserably in every year at this. This team will most likely go nowhere without a winning record at home. That falls on the coach....3 years of a losing home record is a major problem that noone ever addresses.

I loved reading Capuano in today's newsday article say the best players in training camp are the ones who will dress opening night. He says that every year, yet every year there are the Bouchard, Regin, types who end up dressing and getting real burn. If the best players in camp get to dress, why was NiƱo not even invited to camp? Seems to me your 5th overall pick should be given a shot...

That roster is pretty much made up before the season starts. I wish they let the best players play cause some of the dead weight wouldn't be taking up ice time.

In regards to the bolded:

This is getting to be a tired and unfounded fan response to any athlete. So what, he was on facebook? Who cares? If you were upset about what he wrote that's one thing, but getting angry about him using facebook is nonsense. Athletes, despite being paid to play their sport, still have lives that don't revolve around training for said sport. They don't live in a tent at center ice or under a leg press machine. It's as ridiculous as people that flipped their sh!t on P Kessel for tweeting about fishing with his friends when the Leafs season was over.

- eichiefs9

This is the deal: all this useless piece of crap has done in the years since Garth drafted him is f*** around. That's my point. Facebook has nothing to do with it.

Of course the Stanley Cup is the goal, but let's be realistic. This team needs to gain some respectability before they can sign the players to make that happen. I would consider it a success if next season they put a competitive team on the ice and got past the first round of the playoffs.
