Players like John Tavares come across once a decade (if that). Ryan Stome looks to be a talented forward, but please don't say he'd replace Tavares as first line center, because the only replacement for Tavares are maybe 3 players in the show. He's irreplaceable to me...
I love how Ryan Stromes name has made him a star in the NHL without actually being a star in the NHL. It's astounding... - kindlyrick
I never said he would REPLACE JT... i said he would become out first line center... not once did i say he would put up JT's numbers, or do the things that JT can & will do in the NHL... slow your roll

Why when we can discuss the isles trading for a goalie who wasn't gonna play just to add his salary to reach the floor. Or we can talk about the Yashin and dipietro buyouts that amassed a nice 15 million in salary against the cap to reach the floor. The constant hiring of minor league coaches is also a real bargain. It's completely out of the realm of possibility to think wang was saving money. - kindlyrick
Yashins cap hit for the buyout was only 2.2 per and dp was a compliance buyout that doesn't touch our cap |

You are correct.....and Tim Thomas' contract did count against the cap. The point I was trying to make was it wasn't so odd to think the isles were penny pinching when players salaries were being counted against the cap when they weren't playing just to reach the floor.

Couldn't think of any huh? Its alright to back track off your original post about it not wanting to pay campoli because most people that young players are pretty much cost controlled their first few contracts unless you're a stud and even then its still not that bad. I know wang is cheap but money had nothing to do with campoli being traded |

Ryan Strome has never played a full NHL season and you have him playing first line center minutes? Yes I have a problem with that. |

but he still PAID that money to Yashin & DiPietro (and DP's buyout was NOT a cap hit)

Couldn't think of what? I like this site I really do.....but why does this become a battle of who can google better than who. You knew my original point and chimed in. If I made a mistake in why Campoli (who's irrelevant) was traded in 2009 who phucking cares. Why not address the real discussion which was the isles "fleecing" Ottawa.

It's not often I'm wrong, but yes in 2009 Campoli had another year on his contract....you're correct, and thank you again for pointing that out. You got me.
Pointing out that I was wrong about the contract status of Campoli in 2009 is akin to correcting someone using their instead of there or they're. It's ridiculous.
Bottom line.....someone said snow turned Campoli into DeHaan and the isles fleeced Ottawa. I disagreed. I disagree with anyone pegging a prospect as an NHL star when they haven't played a full season in the NHL - kindlyrick

You think it is out of the question, for a BLUE CHIP center prospect to be ready to be a first line center 5 years from now???
Really???

Thanks tips.....someone had already pointed that out. Being that we were discussing strome and his "first line center" role, I'll stick to that. |

1st round draft choice
for
2 players that we no longer wanted.. one who requested a trade.. both were out of the NHL within 4 years.

I come here to discuss actual hockey talk. Heaven forbid my point is inaccurate with respect to the rule change and the message gets completely lost. It goes from yeah I disagree the isles fleeced Ottawa in the Campoli trade and give what I feel is a solid reason in that Dehaan can't even finish a season in the AHL. That point was completely overlooked and it turns into a rule book/google fest.
It's like dealing with a child. "No you said Campoli was a RFA and he had another year." Dipietros buyout doesn't cost against the cap, even though Yashin and Thomas contracts do......and with those two contracts (not three) the isles squeak in to make the salary floor. Bro it's ridiculous. Stop tryin to out google me and discuss the hockey topic at hand. That's what this is for. Last I checked "spelling" doesn't count on this "test". |

I had a pretty good idea it wasn't his last year but a little research can't hurt. Plus it was like 5 or 6 years ago. You act like it was ages ago. |

I disagree. DeHaan could blow out his shoulder again and be done for good. Again I say, let's see how Dehaan holds up with a full year in the NHL (his first full year in the NHL) before you peg him as an all star Top PP defenseman. |

As I said before THE ORIGINAL POST I replied to said the isles fleeced Ottawa with Campoli for Dehaan. Apparently that poster didnt remember Comrie and mcammond in that trade 5-6 years ago either.
I'm gonna call bullsh!t that you knew Campoli had a year remaining on his contract when he was traded but who phucking cares. You're making a left, and I'm going straight. |
