I just don't think Nashville wants the term, no matter what.

Getting Party Boy Ribeiro on the Steve Downie contract (1 yr/1M) is not a bad play for them, unless he doesn't behave.

And then, that gives Lavvy the opportunity to resuscitate dry island.

Gotta think Nashville's gonna be supplying us with some fun stories this year.

It's better enough for the Preds.

They signed Jokinen, Roy, and Ribiero to deals that combined equal what we pay Vinny

Once we deal vinny for a 2nd I've got a great capgeek lineup

I'm having trouble having capgeek put it through everytime I click on the trade my computer locks up and "u gotz holmgrened" pops up all over the screen

I don't understand how they're highly over-rated when they're signed to cheap deals 2 full weeks into free agency.

They're all former top-6 players that have aged themselves into third line roles with the exception of Ribiero. Ribiero will easily play in their top 6 and probably produce 50 some odd points with decent line mates and if healthy.

I would much rather have 3 players that can play all around my team's top 9 for a combined price equal to Lecavalier, who can only really produce in 2-3 different spots in the line-up.

Overrated, yes, but three 40-50 point players are still going to outproduce a Stamkos/Crosby over the course of a season... much less the corpse of VL.

Its hopeful optimism.

Same thing regarding Umberger. Or Streit continuing to play at a decent level.

Last thing the Flyers will want under Hextall is a player with an attitude. I don't think Hextall would touch a player like Ribiero with a ten foot poll.

Lets pretend those 3 guys (somehow) only manage 20 points each, and Vinny scores 65.....

I'd still rather have the other 3 due to the intangibles that don't show up on the score sheet. To say you'd rather have a poor skating and injury prone Lecavalier over three more than capable top-9 players is just silly.

If were talking player for player, I'd take all Roy and Ribiero over Lecavalier right now. We'd then be cap compliant.

I wouldn't mind Olli Jokinen, but I'd rather have Vinny at 4.5 then Jokinen at 2.5

Kabanov being bought out by the Islanders. I'll have one free winger prospect with extra Russian.

I'm discounting salary. I would take any NHL player making $1M on a one year deal for VL

Strange move... why not just loan him to Europe again? Or suspend/terminate his deal when he inevitably bolts there. Snow is a weirdo.

Intangibles? Are you referring to Olli Jokinen crumbling under pressure, Ribiero being a locker room cancer, or Roy's inability to outmuscle my grandmother?

Edit: Can we please wait and see how Vinny looks, at least in camp, before labeling him as "injury prone?"

Its going to be a big year in a couple years when Voracek, bSchenn, Couturier and Coburn need new deals.

Frustrating to have Umberger, LeCavalier, Streit and to a lesser extent MacDonald under contract still at that time.

Have to hope at least some of these guys can be moved out. Too many bad value contracts on the squad. Look to Hextall to free this team from the BS shackles put upon it.

Olli and Roy can both play wing effectively and can find their way back to the d-zone.

Ribeiro... is a bit tougher to defend.

To me its not about LeCavalier's play. I think he can bounce back to a point, but you know teams will be salivating when he is on the ice. Its about the contract and it hand-cuffing the team.

I would much rather have (frank)ing Zherdev at a one year deal at 5 million knowing you can be free sooner.

Olli Jokinen is possibly the worst "star" player in the NHL, maybe next to Ales Hemsky.

Also, Jokinen's career -138 is phenomenal.
